Bernard "Bernie" O'Shaughnessy of Barrington, IL and Phoenix, AZ, passed away at his home in Arizona on Wednesday, June 6, 2007. He was dignified, humble and gentle man who always thought of others first. He can be described as honorable, kind, generous, loving, understanding and reliable. Even as a young man, he was possessed of a gentle wisdom, which drew people to him throughout his life. He forged a life and career from humble beginnings, and became a highly respected colleague in the graphic arts industry. Beloved son of the late Margaret, nee Hogan, and the late Alphonsus O'Shaughnessy, much loved husband of the late Midge, nee Wilhite; loving father of Bryan (Jackie), Dennis and Maureen O'Shaughnessy; he was also the proud and loving grandfather of Katie Elizabeth and Kelsey Brianne O'Shaughnessy, who seemed to bring him endless smiles; deeply loved and admired by Sis. Joan White; brother Jack (Jerry); sisters Margaret and Alice, and the late Sis. Ann; and by his many nieces and nephews. Bernie lived his life with quiet dignity and strength, choosing to lead by example rather than seek praise. He was a great friend to many people and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was our "Lighthouse". A celebration and memorial of his life will be held in his honor at a later date.

I was very sad to hear of Bernie's passing. He was one of the most kind and gentle people I have ever known - one of my most favorite people ever. I am extremely grateful and feel very privileged to have known and worked with Bernie!
