Bernice Pompe, nee Wozny, age 101, formerly a longtime resident of Stickney until she came to live with her daughter,
Lauretta in Mt. Prospect, 3 years ago. Mrs. Pompe passed away peacefully Oct. 30, at the Moorings of Arlington Heights. She is the beloved wife of the late Benjamin
Robert Peters and the late James Pompe Jr.; devoted mother of Lauretta Reed and the late Robert B. Peters; dear mother-in- law of Carylle A. Peters and the late Jack Reed; fond grandmother of Robert (Peg) Peters, Jeanne M. Livingston, Nancy (Jim) Delacruz, Carylle (Ray) Gigl, Marion (Gene) Sullivan and Bill (Sahudy) Peters; great-grandmother of 18; great-great grandmother of one; sister in law of Lottie
Szkodzinski; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Pompe was a member of the Stickney Golden Age Club, Women's Royal Order of the Moose for over 50 years, St. Em's Gems, St. Raymond Seniors and the Arlington Heights Senior Center. She was a loving person who cherished her family and friends. Family and friends will be received at the Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect on Monday, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mrs. Pompe will be lying-in-state at St. Raymond de Penafort Church on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass 10 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials would be appreciated to your favorite charity. For further info 847-394-2336.

I first met Bernice(MaMa as my step mother-in law Eleanor would call her)When she was invited to my brother-in-laws home,I think in 2001. I was amazed to see this 90 some, agile ,attractive women,just get up from sitting on a hassock .She seemed to get up with very little effort. I wanted to know how I could have that kind of longevity and health. I think her first secret was an obedience to the Lord. El told me of seeing her into her 90's still praying on her knees.Because she loved the Lord,she lived for him . When you met her you knew that.My sympathy's go out to Lauretta and her large extended family.Fondly, Karen Dillenburg
