To the Kriz Family, My heart and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. I will always remember Brian as the kindest, most compassionate person I will ever have had the privlege to know. Brian was in my families life because he was one of my brother's, Ray's best friends. When Brian, Mikey and Ray were together our home exploded with laughter and friendship. May the memories keep Brian alive in our hearts forever.

Brian was a young, brand new teacher at ETHS. He had a smile that could light up a room. Kindness and enthusiasm where his trademarks. The entire math department found him refreshing. He will be missed.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kriz:

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very, very difficult loss. I had the extreme good fortune of meeting Brian when I was the principal at Wood Oaks Junior High School. While there were candidates that had much more experience than Brian, it was clear to me that Brian was very special. I was so pleased with the teacher Brian became. He was so very honest, kind, humorous, and passionate about his responsibilities as a teacher. While you and all who knew Brian lost an angel here on earth, heaven has inherited a very special man. He had tremendous influence on me and I trust all that had the opportunity to learn from him. Jeffrey Schleff (Island Lake, IL)

My husband and I first met Brian at Norridge Park where my son Scott and Brian played baseball. We will always remember him having a smile on his face. He would always come up to my husband and me and say Hi. My son Scott and Brian continued their friendship after baseball ended and would get together to play golf as often as they could. Our deepest sympathy goes out to your Mom and Dad and Brother. May you rest in peace. We will miss you. Vic and Kathleen Stampfli

Dear Kriz family,
I have three children who went to Wood Oaks Junior High where Mr. Kriz taught, and have to stress how much everyone loved him. He was one of the most caring teachers I ever met, and certainly the funniest math teacher! (On parent night, he made the end of his algebra problem on the board be "10Q". Then he repeated it a few times, "Ten Q, ten Q very much" as his closing remarks to the parents. He had us in stitches ... and gave us a peek into how fun and interesting he was making math for our children!)

Although only one of my children was fortunate enough to have Mr. Kriz as a teacher, they all loved him. I asked one of my daughters how she knew him and liked him so much and she said, "He always talked to me in the halls." So it was amazing how many people he touched in his too-short life. We were fortunate to have such an incredible person and teacher be a part of our children's lives during those tricky junior high years. Mr. Kriz certainly made a difference in their lives, and will be missed by so many. My sympathies to the family of this wonderful man.

My son played little league baseball with Brian and attended Divine Savior School with him. Brian was a kind, friendly boy who had a smile for everyone, and it seems that he kept his values into manhood. My heart goes out to his mom. We watched so many ballgames that magic summer on our way to Williamsport, and I will always remember how nervous Mrs. Kriz was when Brian was playing. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this unbelievably difficult time.

Brian you where a great friend growing up. I will always remember the good times playing baseball and football. I learned a lot from you in those years. Your moral compass was always pointing in the right direction. You lead by example and those traits will live on for those that were lucky enough to have known you. Thank you.

Brian, I worked with your Mom at Dominick's, and she was one of my favorite friends there. We loved to talk to each other about our children. I know you and your brother were her life. And I know how very much she loved you. Also, how very proud she was of you. I wish I could help your Mom ease the pain and loss she is feeling now. I know there is nothing I can do or say to do that. My prayers and thoughts are with you, your Mom, and your family. Santa Bernacchi
