No one will ever know how proud I am to be known as Bruno Bertucci's niece. My mother always told me how my Uncle Bruno had compassion for people at a young age and it continued throughout his entire life. The world has lost someone special. But we all find comfort that Bruno is now with Lena, Jack, Scott and Gary. God Bless you Uncle Bruno and Eternal Happiness!

On behalf of North Shore Post 29, Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, we wish to extend our condolences to the Bertucci family at the loss of Bruno. Bruno was a friend of Post 29 and he cared deeply for all veterans. He was an active citizen in Highwood and Highland Park, and he devoted much of his time and energy trying to make both communities a better place to live.

Highland Park
Dear Bruno,
It was hard to let you go; the events of the last week have been tough. After spending Monday night reflecting on your life, and how our lives intersected the way they did, I can now say goodbye.
The last time I saw you, we held each other's hand. I didn't want to let go, but neither did you. It took a lot to release your hand and walk away knowing that I wouldn't walk the earth with you again, and knowing that I still have work to do that will have to be completed without your guidance.
On Sunday and Monday, it was my great pleasure to get to know some of your family. Great folks! I offered some comfort to David, who will miss you greatly. I met tearful families who told me that their children were recipients of your scholarships, and how grateful they were. When I returned from your burial, I sent him a note that if he had the time and wanted to do so, I would give him a tour of the places in Highland Park. I told him how you left your mark in my little corner of the world, and these were symbolic reminders of your greatness. I told him how your made my community a better place to live. Every time I ride or walk by our Veterans Monument I will think of you.
I was looking through my old scrapbook last night and pulled out all the documents related to the monument. I began rereading and reliving those times. I realized that the work that we did brought a large measure of happiness to the families, because they wrote notes saying this. The best part of it was reading all the notes you sent to me, encouraging me to fight for the good guys and how won this for them. In one note you said that you were proud to call me your friend! All I could think of was what in honor it was for me to call you my friend! You made me be a better veteran by paying it forward to others.
I shall continue to do the work for the good guys, and you will always be there guiding and encouraging me. Until we meet again, farewell my friend.

Farewell my Uncle Bruno. Farewell my Godfather Bruno. You were my go-to man when a question came up re Highwood and the North Shore. Who can replace the knowledge you had about so many things? Now you are with Auntie Lena and your sons Jack, Scottie, and Gary. Rest assured that Cousin Bruce will carry the torch for the Bertucci clan. May God bless your soul.

I misinterpreted the visitation times on the notice so I missed you. Bruce, your dad was a friend to all us HPHS alumni and we have missed seeing him and you since your restaurant closed.
Bruno was a wonderful person and surely will be missed, I don't know the story but I hope the end was peaceful.
Lilli and I send our sincere condolences.
