Cassandra Carey Obituary

Cassandra ''Sanna'' Cassatt Carey, a memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at 2 p.m in the chapel of Rivers Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Mrs. Carey, 62, of Aiken, SC, beloved wife of Edward M. Carey, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at Edens Gardens. Sanna Carey has been a resident of Aiken, SC since 1969, spending her summers in Lakeridge Kennels in Woodstock, IL since 1973, coming from a long line of sportsmen, including her brother, the late Sandy Cassatt of Aiken. Mrs Carey was a noted professional retriever field trial trainer and breeder. A member of the Professional Retriever Trainers Association, she is the only person to have made field champions of Labrador, Golden, Flatcoat and ChesapeakeBay Retrievers. She qualified, handled and was a finalist in numerous National Open Championships, most notably with Lakeridge's Charlemagne of her breeding and a five time National Finalist and Purina High Point Dog of the Year in 1985 and 1986. Additional survivors include two sons, Truxton Umstead Jr. of Aiken and Edward J. Keady Jr. of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Katharine S. Umstead of New York, NY and Alexandra C. Stodghill of Louisville, KY; four stepdaughters, Christine Levy of Victoria, Australia, Alyce Van Etten of Monticello, NY, Jeanne Carey and Margaret Tribert both of Aiken; a brother, Robert K. Cassatt of Brooksville, ME; a sister, Marie McCray of Aiken; and 15 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be directed to Aiken County Open Land Trust, P.O.
