Chandresh Bahadur Obituary

Chandresh (Chance) Bahadur, 71, of North Barrington, passed away January 19, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. Chance was born November 22, 1942 in Agra, India, and came to the U.S. at age 16 with two college degrees; one in Physics, and another in Chemistry. At age 18 he received his nuclear engineering degree from Kansas State University. He obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago and a CPA also. Chance worked as an engineer for a few years, then, after his MBA, became treasurer at Beatrice Corp., and Esmark. He was also treasurer at Marriott Corp. and Macy's (Federated Stores). He ran his own consulting firm the last number of years and did volunteer financial work for SCORE. He is survived by his wife, Donna Narolewski Bahadur of 51 years, and two sons, Mark Bahadur of Charlotte, NC, and Miles Bahadur of Barrington, IL, one beloved grandson, Ryan Bahadur, and his brother Vishmu Chandra in India, with nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his family as well as his work. His 3 C's were important to him, his cats, his computer and his country, the USA. A memorial service will be planned for February. Dear Donna and family,
I was just recently informed that Chance had passed away. Please accept my sincere sympathy. I worked with Chance at Health Valley. I enjoyed his friendship, his ability to go the root of an issue, and especially, his great sense of humor! He was an unusually talented man gifted with not only knowledge but with wisdom. He was one of a kind.

It has been wonderful being able to have my Uncle Chance as a part of my entire life. He married my beautiful Aunt Donna when I was a toddler. My uncle and aunt were very generous to me and I was able to travel with them on some exciting vacations. In addition, I was fortunate to live in the Chicago area with the family. Uncle Chance always shared great advice.I have so many fond memories. I have added some pictures of our lives as a family. My Uncle Chance will truly be missed. He was a brilliant guy.

I'm very sorry to hear of Chance's passing. I knew him through SCORE where he did excellent work as a volunteer in helping small businesses succeed. He will be missed.

It was a privilege to have known Chance as my brother-in-law and wonderful and caring Uncle to our three children. Whenever, we needed medical help, he always knew the best medical center for each of our problems. His passing will be felt by our family for a long time to come. Hopefully, time will help heal your loss leaving you only with many cherished memories. With sincerest sympathy and love to you and your family from Reid and Ellen Lau.

I have many memories of Chance but one sticks out worth sharing with the boys. I was already studying at the University of Chicago for my MBA when Chance applied there with an atypically low GMAT score so he had to go see the Dean and come up with an argument as to why they should let him in anyway. I told him just tell them you know me and since I was getting A's and B's if they'd just let him in he knew he'd get nothing less than an A which, knowing Chance, is exactly the argument he made. They let him in and I think he got 18 straight A's to make good on his reasoning. A life that serves as a challenge or warning is not all lost.
