David Blumberg Obituary

David Laemle Blumberg, age 94 passed away peacefully at his home in Highland Park, Il on March 27, 2022. David was a man of many accomplishments. His education included a BA and MBA from The University of Chicago and he was a Sargent in an anti-aircraft division of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. In business he ran a successful family furniture company and was a past president of the National Home Furnishings Association. In the community he was a founding member of The Highland Park Community Foundation and served on the board of directors, a past president of Jewish Vocational Service, as well as a volunteer at the North Shore Senior Center. In sports, he was an avid skier and an accomplished golfer. In his personal and family life he enjoyed spending time with his family and dear friends especially over a good meal. David is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Linda Blumberg, nee Horween, loving sons: Anthony (Sue), Paul (Lisa) and Alan (Christine) and wonderful grandchildren: Emily, Teddy, Leah, Daniel, Camden and Justin. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to The Highland Park Community Foundation: P.O. so sorry to learn of Dave;s passing we attended the Lab school together he drove his motor bike to visit me in 1945 at terre haute Indiana(i was in the Navy v-5 program) We were longtime members of the Scammons garden lunnch club at Uhigh. Great friend great memories. Julian Hansen

Linda, Paul & Lisa, Tony, the entire Blumberg Family: We're very sorry to learn of Dave's passing. Dave was a great guy and a good friend. I remember many hours of conversation with Dave many years ago, talking about business opportunities. He was always so supportive and encouraging. Please accept our condolences. We look forward to celebrating his life with you when the plans for his memorial are made.

I loved seeing David at family gatherings and holidays. He was always so full of life. He was always genuinely interested and curious about others AND he loved to share stories about his interests and passions. I send my love and condolences to the Blumberg clan.
