David R. Dowdle, age 92, formerly of Forest Park, IL; beloved husband of Mary Ellen (nee Maren, formerly Gallagher); preceded in death by his late wife, Marion (nee McCarthy); proud father of Laura Dowdle (Peter Huebner), Mary Kane, late Rev. David P., Joan (John) Prescott, Mark (Michele), Daniel (Cathy), Patrick (Angela), Ruth (Scott) Deubel, Martin (Roseanna), Robert (late Bridget), Anne (Greg Paul) and Matthew (Alma); loving step-father to J. Patrick (Joey) Gallagher, Kevin (Kaylee) Gallagher, Brian (Sherry) Gallagher, Timothy Gallagher and Kathleen (Tim) Flannery; proud and loving grandfather of 40 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 21; brother of the late Henry (late Helen) and late John (late Rosemary) Dowdle; uncle and friend of many. David was a former employee of the US Postal Service and Henry Crown Corporation. He loved performing theater, singing, and crosswords, but above all else he loved his family and friends. Visitation Thursday, April 08 from 10am until time of Funeral Mass, 11am at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 S. Wolf Rd. in Western Springs.
