Dimitrios A. Eliopoulos, age 95, born in Doriza, Tripoleos, Greece. Beloved husband of the late Anna, nee Lymberopoulou; loving father of Antonios (Dini), Nikolaos, Peter (Savoula), Angelo (Connie); dear grandfather of Anna Bessie (Jim) Kamilis, Dimitri A. (Jenny), Dimitri P. (Angela), Michael, Anna, Dorin and Eleni; dearest great-grandfather of Kayla and Dana Kamilis. Preceded in death by his parents Antonios and Smyro. Brother of the late Nicholas (the late Stella), the late Euaggelos (the late Aggeliki), and the late Katerina (the late Haralambos) Giannakopoulos. Fond brother-in-law, uncle and godfather to many here, in Greece and in Canada. Visitation Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 4 to 9 p.m. Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home, 11200 S. Ewing Avenue, Chicago, IL. Family and friends will meet Thursday morning at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 13631 S. Brainard Ave., Chicago, IL for funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church or to Ieros Naos Agiou Ioannou, Doriza Greece would be appreciated. To the Elioupoulos family,
today you have lost the patriarch of your family.
I will remember this man who I met over 18 years ago as a man of great humour and just all round good loving nature. The Yiannis Tsakanikas family is sad to hear of your loss. As a member of this family he will be greatly missed. One could only hope to have his long life and the legacy he and his late wife Anna created.
The torch is now passed on to the grandchildren and great grandchildren to live out his legacy and create stronger and bigger frontiers.
