Edward R. Pattara, age 79, Sgt. U.S. Marine Corps, Veteran of Korean War; beloved husband of the late Alice T. Pattara, nee Nolan; loving father of Mary Fran (Kirk) Wessler, Peter (Georgina), Laura Pattara, Lisa (Bernie) Pattara McGrane and Vincent (JoAnn) Pattara; dear "Papa" of Joshua, Nathaniel (Heidi Jo), Luke (Tiffany), Andrew (Hayley), Zachary, Eddie, Mary Rose, Jimmy, Alysse, Abigail, Peter, Benjamin, Grace, Jonathan, Matthew and the late L/Cpl Michael Rauen USMC; great-grandpa of Shayla Jo; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Wednesday, 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral Thursday, 9:30 a.m., from the Brady-Gill Funeral Home ( Heeney-Laughlin Directors), 2929 W. 87th St., Evergreen Park, to Christ the King Church. I was fortunate to have worked for Mr. Pattara at Gustos on 99th Street. I was a good friend of Vince's and his dad was nice enough to give me my first "real job." As a young man, it was very important to be exposed to a strong and gentle role model. Mr. Pattara was physically imposing, but a true gentleman, in every sense of the word. He was very patient and kind, which may be difficult when employing a highschool kid...especially me. He will always hold a special place in my memories. Danny McCarthy
