Elizabeth Lippoth Obituary

Elizabeth Lippoth, passed away June 11, 2005 in Chicago, just eight days short of her 100th birthday. Born June 19, 1905 in Columbus, Georgia, she attended Texas SMU and then earned a Master's of Library Science from Columbia University. Elizabeth lived in New York City for 62 years and served as the Assistant Librarian at Columbia University and the Head Librarian for the Audio-Visual Division of City College of New York, NY before moving together with her sister to Chicago in 1997. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, John Lippoth; and her parents, Katherine Hamilton Neill and George Henry Ford. She is survived by her dear sister, Katherine Neill Ford; and their longtime friends, Hediye Kerman and Ronald Kot and their daughter, Melek, with whom they resided in Chicago's Lakeview area. After a private celebration of what would have been her 100th birthday, Elizabeth's cremation remains will be buried at Linwood Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lakeview Pantry, 3831 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL 60613. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Illinois, 773-281-5058.
