Gerald Bergman

Gerald Keith Bergman, 83, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Ervin and Kathryn Bergman on July 2, 1934. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joan P. Bergman whom he married on September 11, 1976, and his sister, Barbara Kirchner of St. Paul, MN; three children: Kurt W. Bergman (Holly) Arvada, CO; Virginia A. Palmer, (Mike) Phillips, WI and Kenneth G. Bergman (Mary) Palisade, CO and three stepchildren: Stephen Cummings (Kara), Gretchen McCune, Carolyn Cummings and nine grandchildren. Gerry had a long and celebrated career starting in banking. He served at Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company from 1957-82 where his positions included; vice president and group head of the metropolitan division, president of Continental Illinois Leasing Corporation and senior vice president and head of the special industries division. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1981. In 1982 he was named executive vice president of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and president of Twentieth Century Fox Enterprises. In 1996 Gerry joined Western Pacific Storage Solutions and retired in December of 2016. Additionally, he held esteemed positions at philanthropic organizations, including the Lincoln Park Zoological Society and the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation. A private family memorial service was held on August 2, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Lincoln Park Zoological Society, 2001 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60614-4712.
