My sweet cousin. You always made laugh. Two of my favorite memories of you was walking to the public pool by your house, such a good time. We also had eating radishes competition. I cried laughing and all of a sudden your mom would walk in to see what we were doing, you always covered it up so quick. I lost touch with a cousin so close to my age and it haunts me. Miss you

Thank you, Dan! This is a wonderful insight to how John was. I expected nothing less!

John was the youngest of his siblings so his premature death has gone against the flow of expectations. The remembrances shared here are touching and offer insight into what he was like at work. Thank you for posting them. Friendships were forged with co-workers and customers alike. And yes, his laugh was appropriately noted; always at the ready. Not always audible, but hardy and it showed.
Our mother went through an opera phase, and I think it was from La Boheme where a character sings goodbye to another. "ADDDDDDDDIIIII-OOOOO!" our mom shrieked, full throated, from the front porch as her 10 year old youngest left for school one day. "Horrors", I thought - "the neighbors!". I asked John what he did at this humiliation, I mean he was halfway down the block.
"What could I do? I answered her back: ADDDDDDIIIII-OOOOO!"
He knew how to work a crowd, as his mother loved telling that story. Full throated, of course.

Oh no....not John. :( He was one of my dearest friends for many, many years. We met when I started working at The Franklin Park Bank. I'll never forget how we met.....I went into lunchroom on my first day at the bank, sat at table with him, proceeded to open my pull tab can of spaghetti ..... and accidently sprayed it all over his shirt and tie!! I was mortified...we laughed so hard and became best of friends from then on! He had the best hearty laugh ever! We bowled on 2 bowling leagues, ate many "schrooms" at Houlihans in Oak Brook, he taught me how to drive so I could get my license, and was a witness at my wedding. I moved 3 hours away and over time we lost touch. :( Always wondered how he was and thought of him often. My heart aches at hearing of this great loss. He was a gentle, wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

My jaw hit the floor when I read this in the Trib this morning. I met John back in the late 80s when I worked at the bank on Rose St. My mom could wait in line forever if John was her teller. I really liked him and I'm so very saddened to read of his passing. May he rest in eternal peace.

Oh, no! I was scrolling through the names and backtracked, saying out loud, I hope it's not "Mom's John Biggins"
Unfortunately, as I read the obituary, it is "my mom's John Biggins" I am so very sorry to see this. Dear Family, my mom worked with John at Franklin Park Bank. She just adored him. With my mom being much older than her coworkers, John was always there to help her out with an issue on the computer, which she couldn't stand! He was always so kind to her and they even shared lunches! He would always remember her birthday, as she did with his. I am so very saddened to read of his passing. Please know, my mother, Catherine "Kay" Ciccone, adored John and she thought the world of him. My mom's been gone for 16 years now, and I'm sure she is up there, guiding him to his Home. May they both be sharing their lunches and reciprocating hugs!
My sincerest Condolences to you all! He was a genuine, kind, loving man and I am sure he will be missed by all who knew him.
Sincerely,
Nancy (Ciccone) Center
