Joseph Novak Obituary

Joseph John Novak, 72 years young, born in Chicago, IL, passed away quietly in his sleep at home on December 9, 2022.

Joe was born March 29th, 1950, and grew up in Maywood, IL. Graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1972 he went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School in 1975 and had a successful career in law and capital markets.

Joe married the love of his life, Christine Hanson, on January 27th, 1973; Joe and Cris were set to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next month. Joe's deepest loves included his wife, three children and seven grandchildren, who will always lovingly refer to him as "Dude."

Joe had the biggest heart and an unwavering enthusiasm for life. He was a handyman to his core, always eager to help family and friends with any project on their docket. Joe touched many lives with his giving nature. Those who knew him are blessed. He lived for his family, friends and always loved a "great party."

Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arnold Novak and Patricia (Little) Novak, and is survived by his wife Cris Novak, his three children, Amanda Dombai (Michael Dombai), Michael Novak (Erin Rasler), Zachary Novak (Alanna Novak), his seven grandchildren (Ava Dombai, Maeve Dombai, Anderson Dombai, Auden Novak, Asher Novak, Willow Novak, Summer Novak) and his siblings Mary Reheberger, Kathleen Marschalk, John Novak and James Novak. Joe will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.

Joe was a great neighbor and I enjoyed speaking him in the alley between our houses on Greenwood and Elmwood when Joe and Cris lived in Wilmette. He was kind enought to let my son go through their basement when they were moving out to pick out his children's old toys and hockey equipment before they moved out of their house (which they still play with). We were all sad to hear of his passing all too soon. Love and thoughts to Cris and the Novak children - may God lift up your hearts and may you all have sweet memories of a good man. He will surely be missed.
