Joseph "Dick" R. Rasdale, 70, beloved brother of James Rasdale, Charles Rasdale, Patricia Casurella, Joanne Kellermann,
Linda Bushman and the late Virginia
Millard; and devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, died July 27 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in St. Johns, Michigan, Dick moved to Chicago in 1969, where he and James, as Rasdale Stamp Co., held public auctions for stamp collectors and retailers until his retirement in 2003. Dick enjoyed traveling, especially to national parks, and completed his goal of visiting every state. A family memorial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Any memorial contributions can be made to the American Philatelic Society, of which he was an active supporter.

Dick was my rock – he could always be counted on for good sound reasoning. He was my mentor – he taught me how to ride a bike and let me tag along with his school buddies.
I will always remember the adventures I shared with him – from feeding the chipmunks at Rocky Mountain National Park when we were kids to encountering four huge bears on our path at Katmai National Park. With Mom, we gazed upon Loch Ness and with Arlan we hiked at Mount Kiluaea.
I’ll really miss you Dick.

We loved him and will miss him very much. His brother Charles was 11 years old when Dick was born. With fond memories,
