I just learned of Kris's death. We were childhood pals at St. Lamberts and later St. Scholastica. I'll always remember Kris as a beautiful, kind and very smart girl. I now live in the house I grew up in, which is around the corner from the house Mrs. Gast (Kris's grandmother) lived in for so many years. I can't pass it without thinking of the Gast family. Kris and I shared many happy times and, as it turned out, a name. My sincere sympathy on your tragic loss.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to Kris' family and friends over her loss. She was a remarkable person and therapist and I had the pleasure of knowing her and working with her at SEDOL. She was truly an amazing woman and she will be missed-but she lives on in all of the wonderous things she has done and the lives she has touched.

Kris was truly a remarkable SLP. She always gave of herself so that others could improve, learn and move beyond. We shared many of the same children and spent hours discussing ways to make their lives better. Kris will always be in my heart and in my thoughts as I continue to problem solve ways to improve the lives of children.

Mrs. Kris taught my son just last year. She had created a wonderfull tool for him to use, that he just loved. She gave him "Good Voice" and "Bad Voice" tickets - this worked so well that he started giving us tickets at home! He loved the tickets and special books she gave him at the end of the year. She will be greatly missed by Ben. Our deepest sympathy is with her loved ones and God bless.

My sympathy to the family over your loss. Kristine's work in helping the many students and their families communicate more effectively is the great legacy she left others. Through their ability to talk more effectively, she will have left a permanent gift to society.

To the Gast Family,

I have known Kris for over 30 years as a member of the SLP Department at SEDOL. As the SLP Coordinator, and as so many of the other therapists in the department we were always in awe of the amazing and creative therapy activities that Kris willingly shared with us.

I have thought during the past week about Kris's 30+ years of service to SEDOL, and realized that she has probably provided therapy and given the gift of language and communication to almost 1000 students in her career. An additional legacy is the many young SLPs starting their careers at SEDOL who she mentored along the way. They would not be the outstanding clinicians that they have become without her gentle tutelage.

Finally, as a friend I will miss our long talks in my office...especially at the end of the year when we would reflect upon the changes in SEDOL, what we have accomplished in our careers, and what to anticipate that was in store for us in the future. There will definitely be a void within our department and SEDOL for many years to come.

My thoughts and prayers are with you to comfort you in the days ahead. may God Bless.

Words nor tears can express the grief I feel. I can still see and hear you singing to the kids in class. I will miss you Kris! I do find comfort in knowing you are in Heaven singing and reading books to children circled around you! Push up your glasses, and when you misplace them I will sit back and laugh as you search for them. Love you, thank you for being a great friend.

I had the joy and pleasure of serving as Kris' supervisor at SEDOL and watching her untiring service to children. Her warmth, her smile, her soft-spoken voice and her beautiful soul will long be remembered. Because of her service to the Volo Bog I became a path walker out there. Though never having born children; she had hundreds of children through her service to SEDOL and what changes she was able to bring to children and their families to allow them to communicate so much better with each other. She will be sadly missed and long remembered.

I met Kris 12 years ago when I started working for SEDOL. I could tell immediately she was a kind, loving, intelligent person. She was an exceptional therapist and an exceptional person. Her loss is great for all who knew her. I have never met any of her family but I send all of you my deepest sympathy for I know your loss is the greatest.

It can not even be expressed the loss felt. Kris had a impact on my child and many other children that can not even be measured. Because of Kris's help my daughter communicates with us, a gift that she gave to us that will always keep Kris with us. Kris always went the extra step, gave us tools to work with, encourgement and ideas. My family was truly blessed to have Kris touch our lives.

Dear Jim, cousins Patty, Mary, John, Jim and Tom, and Aunt Jan,

Still struggling to believe she's gone!

I'm so glad I sought Kris out to have coffee with her when I was in Chicago last summer. Everyone held Kris in such high esteem, I felt I wanted to know her better. And I'm glad she knew I wanted that.

She's with Nonnie and Grandpa and her parents now and it's only us here grieving and missing her. My deepest sympathy to my cousins in particular, who lost their father and beloved sister within the past year. Know my prayers are with you.
