To Maddie, Danny, and Julie,
It's taken me some time since your mother passed away to figure out what I would like to say each of you. Laurel and I knew each other from Multiplex days -so it's been at least eleven years, since we've become friends. I know that her whole life revolved around her children and being able to provide the love, guidance, emotional and financial support for all three of you. Sure there were trying times, as there are for all parents, but she was so proud of the three of you.
Her attitude and strength during this illness was uplifting and astounding. I always checked in with her every morning either when I walked into or out of the Equinox and not once did I hear a negative thought. She was optimistic and never complained about how she was actually feeling.
I miss her terribly. I hope the day will come for you when the good memories will overshadow the sorrow. My thoughts are with you. Love, Renee

Laurel was an intellegent thoughtful and kind human being. She immulated life. She always had a life going for her. I don't understand. I remember when it was my 20th class reunion and Laurel dressed me up for it. I did not have any money, I was only her personal trainer. She made me feel beautiful. Then sent me off if I was one of her children. When I was with her, I was special, when she was with me she was classic.

To Laurel's family,
I knew Laurel since Multiplex. You could always find her on the stairmaster or running on the treadmill. Laurel always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She was a woman of great strength. The most important thing were her children. She always kept me updated on what everyone was doing. As I pass her office at Equinox each day, I am saddened for her family who have been deprived of more precious time with her. My thoughts are with all of you during this very sad time. Laurel was a special woman-one of kind.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Laurel's death. She was one of those people that you felt you knew all of your life from the moment you met her.
I met her at Equinox and marveled at her ability to face her illness with such dignity and grace and most of all the will to beat it.
She knew everyone's name and had the ability to make everyone feel like her inner circle. She will be missed greatly by so many.

Laurel was an incredible woman full of strength, compassion and grace. Her greatest joy were her three children Maddy, Danny and Julie, who she spoke of with love, pride and great warmth. They were the center of her being. She was a wonderful role model for her children and many others. She was always able to rise to the occasion and give it her best fight. What a wonderful legacy she has left behind in the too short of time she spent in this world. Laurel will be greatly missed.

We got to know Laurel first through Equinox, then also with the Highland Park High School Girls Track Team. A dynamic, intensely active and interesting woman, exuding energy and fun. We will miss her, and Julie, we send our family's support to you and your family. Fondly, The Kent Family: Paul, Fran, Chrsitie, Larah, Katharine and Coleen Kent

Laurel,
You touched my life deeply with your wisdom and compassion. The love you gave so freely will be treasured always.
I will always remember those talks we had in your office about our children. The glow in your face when you shared was so moving. You were so proud of each of them and I was so touched by your motherly love and pride.
You were so interested in what Lisa was doing at high school with her lacrosse and field hockey. You cared so much about her future, and when she came in to work out at the gym you encouraged her.
As the college recruitment started you guided her and shared in her joy. She will be so saddened when I tell her tonight that you are not with us anymore, but know you will be in our hearts and hers especially.
When I came to class this morning and asked Ellen about you, I was so deeply saddened, the tears just flowed. I wish I could have talked to you one more time to again tell you how much you meant to me. So for now these words are from my heart to yours Laurel. Till we meet again,....... you will always be a treasured friend.
