Marian Sanfilippo Obituary

Marian R. Sanfilippo, 88 of Barrington Hills, was born on March 25, 1935 at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago and passed away peacefully at her home December 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Marian attended Providence High School in Chicago and was a 1956 graduate of DePaul University. After graduation, she worked as a 2nd grade schoolteacher. On July 14, 1956, Marian married the love of her life, Jasper B. Sanfilippo at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Chicago. Love of family, friends and community meant everything to Marian. She raised five wonderful children while supporting her husband's business ambitions and his passion for collecting music machines and steam engines. Together, they shared a commitment to philanthropy by opening their home to host events to raise funds for non-profit organizations. Marian was a devout catholic and she loved her parish, Saint Anne Catholic Community. She also made time to get involved in helping several charitable organizations including Arden Shore and the Michael Joseph Foundation. She is survived by her children, John (Susan), Jim, Jeffrey (Rusty), Lisa and Jasper (Laura) Sanfilippo; grandchildren, Danielle (Zach) Durkee, Allison (Shawn) Murphy, William and Nicholas Evon, Jasper (Noelle), Johnny, Grace, Jaclyn, James, Enzo, Jasper, Caroline, Tallon, and EJ Sanfilippo; great-granddaughters, Adelyne Evon and Sloane Murphy; brother, Edward James (Renee) Fabsits; and nieces and nephews, Tom, Mary Ann, Kim, Stacey, Bill, Bernice and Elizabeth. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper; parents, Fred and Mary; and sister, Josephine (Bud) Schmalz. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, from 3:30pm until 8pm at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington, where she will lie in state on Monday, December 11 from 10am until the time of Mass at 11 am. Entombment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela St., Barrington, IL 60010.
