Marlene was a remarkable woman. I had the opportunity to not only work with Marlene through the volunteer program at the Chicago Cultural Center but become great friends with her as well. We shared many memorable moments over the past fifteen years. I will never forget the day I met Marlene for the first time - she was wearing the most beautiful hat! I would come to learn with time that was her style; no matter the weather, she always wore a stylish hat. But Marlene was so much more than fashion and volunteering. She was a woman with a huge heart of gold. Dependable and kind, Marlene always saw the truth and goodness in people. She always wanted to be helpful. I will miss her laughter, stories, chatter and advice. I know that she is chatting it up with the angels now and everyone is having a very good time.

I had the pleasure to work/volunteer with Marlene at the various events through the Chicago Cultural Centre. She was delightful with a keen sense of humour. She even invited ME to join her group of friends for laughs and libations monthly at "Joan's Pub" ;-) I was so honored..We had some really good times. Though not well, she kept us smiling. My prayers go out to her family. She spoke often of her "girls" and fondly of her grandchilren..She will surely be missed.

Mary, I think my husband and I may have gone to school with your Mom. Did she graduate from St. John High School, Jackson, Michigan? If so, I am so sorry to read her obituary. She was such a nice, as well as a beautiful gal. I didn't see much of her after high school as we all went different ways - some off to college, some getting maried, and your Mom off to Chicago. I well remember a lovely graduation party your great-grandparents gave for her at their home at Brown's Lake. They were the sweetest elderly couple, and were so proud of their granddaughter (your Mom). Through the years, your Mom came to some of our class reunions, the 50th being the last time I saw her. I talked to her on the phone just before our 55th and she told me she wouldn't be able to come. She wasn't at the 60th last year, and was obviously very sick. I wish I had known. Our class is shrinking fast! I know she was so proud of her girls and you will miss her. And although we didn't see for long periods of time, we will miss her too. God bless each one of you, abundantly.
Jim and Rosemary (Logsdon) Gough (old, old classmates).
