Dear Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Therese and Ann, and Jim... It is with great sadness that I learned about Mike's passing today. I have very fond memories of our friendship on Alice Ct., at St. Linus, and at Marist. Mike was one of the good guys and I know that he is in the good hands of Christ and Mary Our Good Mother now. My prayers are with all of you.

I am shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my old friend Mike. We were neighbors growing up in Oak Lawn, on Linder Ave. I remember playing softball, football and other sports with Mike, his brother Jimmy, and the rest of our friends on Linder. Although I haven't seen Mike in over 30 years....these memories will live on forever. My condolences to Ken, Jane, Theresa, Jimmy and Mike's wife and children. Sincerely, Tony Besbekos

Dear Karen and Family,
Total focus. That was what Mike brought to each interaction regarding Chicago Youth Programs. The children, families, and staff were impacted by his leadership as our President of the Board of Directors.

Dear Karen and family. I have known Mike for many years, starting as opposing counsel when he represented Jewel, and I represented developers. Even as adversaries I respected Mike for his integrity, intelligence and sense of fairness. Over the years our relationship blossomed, we kept in frequent touch, and Mike recruited me to serve on the CYP Board, one of his many passions. I will miss our Friday morning breakfasts at Tempo as well as the round or two of golf we shared. You all know how unique a man your husband, father, son and brother was. He should serve as a role model for us all. Mike will be dearly missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Mike and I were so shocked and sad to hear of Mike's death. Mike still remembers those early days at Chadwell with great fondness for his fellow summer associates. And we were honored that Mike stood up for us at our wedding.

Dear Karen,
As you know Marist meant so much to Mike. When I first began my work at Marist a few people stepped forward to help. Mike was one of those people. The success of Marist the last two decades is built on the backs of people like Mike. Mike took ownership in being an advocate for Marist. More importantly to me is that he bacame my good friend. Someone I could count to always be there to offer guidance. My heart is broken that Mike is gone. He will always be an important part of Marist history. I will continue to seek his guidance in my prayers. God Bless you and the boys.

I am still in shock to hear about Mike's passing. I remember growing up on Linder Ave and we all hung out together. We were commonly referred to as the "Gang" when that word did not have a negative connotation it has today. It was through one of the "Gang" members that I was told the news. My deepest condolences for the loss of such a good person.

Karen and family, It was my distinct pleasure to have known and worked with Mike on the Board of Chicago Youth Programs. Truly a man who embraced the notion of service to a community. Words cannot describe how sad we are to have lost Mike, our Board President and that pales in comparision to your family's immeasurable loss. He will never be forgotten.

Karen, I had the pleasure of working with Mike when Jay McIntosh was President of the Board of CYP. I was Jay's admin assist at Ernst & Young and was, in a way, secretary to the Board during Jay's presidential tenure. Mike's dedication to this organization always had me in awe and I was a better person knowing Mike as a result. My deepest condolences go to you and your boys. Please know that there are many people from Portage 1st United Methodist Church lifting you and your boys in prayer as you move through this difficult time in your life. I had the privilige of living across the street from Mike & Karen back in the 90's. Mike was a great neighbor, a warm friendly man, and a super father. Our kids played together often, and I enjoyed the times we'd spend laughing and talking about daily events and neighborhood drama.
