Michael Salinger, MD, 66, passed away suddenly on September 24, 2021; beloved husband and best friend of Kathy for 27 years; loving father of Jennifer (Putnam) Browne, Andrew (Natalie) Mast and Stephen (Brenna) Mast; adored "Grandpa Mike" of Indiana, Juniper, Isla, and Miles Mast; much loved son of Carol and the late Leonard; dear brother of Stephen (Julie) Salinger and Debra (Ira) Clair; adored uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews. Michael was passionate about his family and his career; devoted to the care of his patients and was always modest about his talent as a Structural Interventional Cardiologist. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) would be greatly appreciated. Graveside service, Thursday, September 30, 2021 11 AM at Shalom Memorial Park 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. I am so very sorry to just now run across this info. while looking for an excellent cardiologist for a friend. Along with God, Dr. Salinger gave my husband at the time, Danny Reeves, an additional 7 years of life by performing the Trans Peripheral Myocardial Revascularizaton procedure on him before it had FDA approval. Danny was dying and nothing was left in his body to do any more bypass surgeries. Danny was the 3rd recipient to have it done in the USA. My sincerest condolences to all the family.

Dr Salinger was a great man I was so sorry to hear of his passing. He performed my heart transplant in 1989 with out him and all of evanston hospital I would not be here today. My condolences to Kathy and the family.

With everything thing that went wrong with my heart a couple years ago Michael Salinger MD and his team at Frodtert helped me get back on my feet. I started seeing him for a second opinion after my first surgery had complications. I appreciate everything their team did and am forever grateful to have chosen the direction we did.

Kathy, I just heard from my internist that Mike has passed away. He fixed my heart but broke it when I heard about his death.

He was a great Doctor and you both were friends for years.

Dr Salinger did a procedure on my dad which greatly enhanced his quality of life for several years before his death. I appreciated Dr Salinger´s wisdom, calmness and sense of humor.
