Michael LeRoy Yauger

1948 - 2021

Michael "Mick" LeRoy Yauger, 72, of Spring Grove, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born December 9. 1948 in Chicago to Leroy and Teresa (Mahler) Yauger. In July of 1970, Mick met the love of his life, Lynn Marchetti, who he married later that year in October.

Directly after graduating high school, Mick joined the U.S. Army. While serving his tour in Vietnam, Mick achieved the rank of Sergeant with the Army Airborne Infantry Rangers. He also was awarded a Silver Star and three Purple Hearts. Mick was a proud Soldier for Life.

Mick spent his life working in the construction industry, and he was a past president of the Local 786 Union from which he retired. In his leisure time, Mick enjoyed hunting in Wisconsin and Montana with his best friend, Larry Krause. He was very knowledgeable in the kitchen, always ready to whip up a delicious meal from various cuisines. To most, Mick was known as a very generous man, even to a fault. He was a funny, charismatic, wonderful man who will be missed by many.

Mick is survived by his wife, Lynn; stepson, Noel Berndt; granddaughter, Jessica Berndt; his sister, Barbara (Stephen) Waters; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Larry Krause.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Thompson Spring Grove Funeral Home, 8103 Wilmot Road, Spring Grove, IL 60081. Services were private for Mick.
