Nancy Voss Obituary

Nancy L. Voss Humay, nee Conti, long-time resident of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully in her home; Beloved wife of James Humay; loving mother of Jenna (Kenny) Julian [Eugene Voss, father of Jenna]; cherished stepmother of Meg Humay, Jim (Geri Mulso) Humay, and Joe Humay; devoted Nonnie of Elisa, William, and Lia Julian; loving step-grandmother of Nina, Yulia, and Maximus Ahlheim, Alex Humay, Cannon, Cason and Tessa Humay; dear sister of Alex (Sandra) Conti; auntie to Anthony and AJ, and godmother to Sheila Fischer.

Nancy's lifelong love of art began with chalk drawings on the sidewalk outside her childhood home in Riverside. She attended St. Mary School and Riverside-Brookfield High School. She received dual bachelor's degrees in art history and psychology from Culver-Stockton College and teaching certificate from Lewis University. Nancy's successful career began as an art teacher before dedicating over 30 years to the art industry, named top salesperson and gallery director at several respected art galleries, and ultimately fine art gallery owner of Zygman Voss Gallery in Chicago, IL. She enjoyed mentoring up and coming artists over the course of her career. Upon retirement, Nancy found joy in once again being an art student, taking watercolor classes and creating beautiful pieces, some of which she showed at a local art show.

Beyond all her career successes, Nancy's greatest love was for her family and the many deep and meaningful friendships she developed throughout her life. Her deep devotion to her Catholic faith was a source of strength and peace. She found great joy in spending winters in Punta Gorda, FL, attending opera, symphony, Shakespeare Theatre performances, cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks, playing tennis, her many travels over the years with her friends, and being the #1 fan for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony J. Conti.

To the Humay and Voss Families
Moya and I were deeply saddened to read of Nancy's passing last week and we send our heartfelt condolences to your families. Our prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of such a beautiful, intelligent and magnetic woman.
Our company, Merrill Chase Galleries, was truly fortunate to have Nancy in leadership at our flagship gallery in Water tower Place for many, many years before she and Ahron Zygman founded their own gallery. She excelled in everything she did and was so well liked by colleagues and patrons alike.
Nancy enriched the lives of colleagues and art collectors with her deep knowledge, enthusiasm and charm. She will be missed by many.
With sincere sympathy,
Bob and Moya Chase
