Fr. Nick Marro was a dear friend of our family for at least 40 years. I loved talking to him because he had so many great stories about my family before I was born and the Bears since he was the Chaplain of the 85 Super Bowl Team. However, the greatest memory I will have of him is his name, Nicholas. My parents named me after him and I will always remember him because of that.

Dear Marro family
My condolences on the passing of Fr. Nick. He was such a solid base at St. Peter's church in Sarnia, ON.
His warmth, humor, and compassion were always welcome. Since I attended Northwestern U. in Evanston
and had an aquaintance in Oak Park Ill., I found our meeting to be unique. I often missed him on Sundays
after circumstances caused our paths to separate, and often wondered to where he had disappeared.
Thanks to the internet I now know.

Dear Marro Family,
Our deepest condolences for the passing of our dear Fr. Nick. He made such a lasting impression in my life when he was a priest at St. Peter's Parish in Sarnia, ON Canada. He was firm in his teaching, but he made me feel loved and important. We were one of few immigrant families of colour in our church but he was always so kind and welcoming. He made going to mass a want and not a must. He was funny, when he would announce that the homily would be short due to a football game. One Christmas, few of us kids went caroling and ended up drinking hot chocolate at the rectory with him. The next mass he pulled out his guitar and had us come up to the alter and sing carols to the congregation. He is truly a blessing from God. May he rest in Peace with Our Lord. Much love from the D'Sousa Family

To everyone in the Marro Family, I am truly heartbroken to have learned of Fr. Nick's passing. Fr. Nick entered my life when I was 6 years old, having become Pastor at St. Peter's Church in Sarnia. He immediately became a fixture in our home, joining us nearly every Sunday for dinner, and during the week as well. Sunday Mass was met with such excitement, as we would wonder how he would include the previous day's Peanuts comic into his always vibrant homilies. I loved it when he would visit our classrooms during my eight years at St. Peter's School, and I always wanted to make him proud, with my religion homework. He was my hero. He called me Babe, just as he called his niece, Elaine, the same - and I couldn't have felt more honoured. He became family to us, and we always loved it when his wonderful parents, and family would visit him in Sarnia, and our dinner table would become huge! He always kept in touch with us over the years, especially with my parents, and I was so happy to have introduced him to my husband in 2014, just hours after we were married in Chicago. He took us to his favourite Italian restaurant, where he was greeted as though he were a king! He was SO loved! At the end of the evening, when we drove him back to his rectory, he imparted a beautiful blessing to my husband, then to myself, and ended it with "now give me a hug, babe - God bless you always." I hold that moment in my heart. Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences at this time, and may all your wonderful memories sustain you, and keep you strong, as you grieve this loss in your lives. You will all continue to be in my prayers. God bless you all.

Dear Marro family,
My deepest condolences to you all. I was so honored to support Fr. Nick as a chaplain at the Life Center. He was so dynamic, kind, insightful/observant (almost psychic I think!), and an expert at loving straight talk' when needed. His honesty about his illness and feelings taught me so much and I felt honored he confided in me. He ministered the staff and residents at the Life Center with such love.
May peace be yours. May love surround you and comfort you.
Sincerely, Lauren Ivory Smyk

Dearest Marro Family,
It is with a very heavy heart on the passing of Fr. Nick. There are no adequate words to convey our profound appreciation for the friendship of Fr. Nick and our family - most especially with our dad, Lee. Dad and Fr. Nick shared common loves - the Catholic Church, Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, the Blessed Mother and...the Chicago Bears. The mutual love, respect, generosity and loyalty shared between Dad and Fr. Nick was second to none. Many thought Dad was Fr. Nick's brother, due to the resemblance!
We cherish the wonderful memories of spending time with Fr. Nick on drives to Bears' away games and visits to Cranston, RI. Those memories are filled with laughter and joy!
We rest assure knowing that Dad and Fr. Nick are reunited in Heaven surrounded by the Angels and Saints - and some red wine, great cannolis and gnocchi!
With love and prayers,
The Dolack Family

Father Nick's life was like a storybook with many chapters. Each chapter represented a different chapter of his life. From his years on the east coast, to his assignments as a priest, to his work with the Bears, to his retirement where never really retired at Resurrection LifeCenter, his storybook was full. One of the coolest things is that any one of his chapters would have been enough to have made a life well lived for any of us. But not for Father Nick. He had to have all of the chapters. And his favorite part of his storybook - us the characters. From the children in the schools and masses who he welcomed around the lord's table during mass, to the athletes and their families who he ministered to 'for the best outcome', to the staff and volunteers and their families who were suppose to help him, but in reality we received more help FROM him then we could ever give TO him - he loved his characters. He loved the Blessed Mary. He loved his beloved CB, the squirrels at his window, therapy dogs, and all animals. He loved visits. He LOVED - and showed us how to love just as he did - without prejudice. Father Nick LIVES ON in the love we share with each other. "You're a good friend, young man. Thank you." The Doyle Family

Fr. Nick was a kind friend to me and my parents. When he used to be able to say mass at my grandparents old church at downtown Chicago Illinois, he would always ask me how I was doing and how my parents were doing. When we went to visit him at Resurrection Retirement Center, he was always happy to see me. Fr. Nick and I were very good friends and his passing is shocking. May he rest in piece and I know that he's watching me and my parents from heaven. He will be deeply missed by many friends.

Our deepest sympathy to Fr. Nick's family. We were blessed to have Fr. Nick as our Pastor at St. Charles Borromeo Parish. He worked tirelessly to keep our school open which gave our daughters, Lisa & Christine, the benefit of a Catholic school education. It was my honor to be hired by Fr. Nick as our school secretary and work closely with him. We thank God for bringing Fr. Nick into our lives and we'll miss him a lot.
With our prayers and condolences,
