I had the pleasure of meeting "Mr. Norm" in Indianapolis and consider it a highpoint in my life. As a life long Mopar Nut and having been to his dealership numerous times in `70 through `72 with a buddy and seeing what he/they could do with a car, I can say he was an icon in the Mopar world and to racing fans! May god bless his family and know that Mr. and Mrs. Norm are together with our Lord in his realm. I bet that he has our Lord and Savior driving a `69 Hemi Charger!

I met Mr Norm at the Mopar Nationals one year in Indy. I told him I had a bunch of questions for him because I owned a car sold from Grand Spalding Dodge. It was the 1971 Charger R/T. He took the time and patiently answered all my questions. Very nice guy. R.I.P. Mr. Norm.

I'm very saddened to find out Norm has passed away. I lived next to Norm for about a decade and knew him and his wife Fran very well. Our backyards were separated by a fence.
I would come over to Norm's house regularly and we would talk about various topics, he would show me all of the Mr. Norms memorabilia from his days in the business and some of the letters people would write to him from all over the world. To me, Norm was my neighbor and my friend so I didn't actually realize that he was famous. He was proud of his Russian heritage and would talk about what it was like being Jewish in the 50s America, naturally something I had no clue about. Norm was a very wise person with an incredible life experience and I've learned quite a bit from him. His wife Fran was a very cool lady, she came over once to my pool party and partied with us, unfortunately Fran passed away before I moved out from there. I would stop by Norms for a few years after I moved, but have not seen him since which I greatly regret. Norm would always tell me how I needed to find a good girl to marry. I wish I could have told him that I actually did and have children now, perhaps he can see it from above. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace my friend.

I met Norm about 10 years ago in Acapulco when I was visiting my dad. The three of us went to dinner a couple times, hung at the pool daily and shared laughs. Norm was such a light. I´m so happy to have met him!! My heartfelt condolences.

You will be truly missed. I often recall the days when I lived a few houses away from the dealership, at times I would run sandwiches to the mechanics there from "Sam's Grocery "on Cortez st. You were always cheerful and smiling. May God take your hand and walk with you in eternal bliss.

Very sorry to learn on Mr Norm´s passing.
We purchased a new 1972 Supercharged 340 four speed Challenger from the Chicago dealership while on our honeymoon. We returned to Upper Michigan and of course drag raced many local cars eventually moving to Mpls. with our family mopar. Great dealership and such memories with that awesome car.

Having grown up in Chicago during the '60's, listening to Grand-Spaulding commercials on WLS, having a favored distance of 1320 feet and never having forgotten the sweet fragrance of 102 octane, it is with heavy heart that I have received the news of the passing of another one of our childhood heroes. I extend my condolences and prayers to his family. I have attempted to learn where he grew up and the high school which he attended, but without success. Thank you for the memories Mr. Norm.

You were a HUGE part of the Mopar legacy, and your many accomplishments and contributions, to our hobby will not be forgotten! I was fortunate to meet Norm after I purchased one of the rare Dodge Super Cat automobiles from him and Larry Weiner. We met up again at a couple carshows in Chicago and the suburbs. I grew up in Highland Park and still live close by along with both my siblings. My brother and I met up with Norm again in 2020 at the house where he was kind enough to sign both my Dodge cars. Great guy who will be missed by everyone he knew. Deepest sympathy to all the family

When my brother and I were teenagers, we used to walk over to Grand Spaulding Dodge to visit with whoever we could talk to at night. One night Farkonas, and Minick were there unloading a white 1964 Dodge Hemi off the train that used to run behind the dealer. Since they kind of knew us for always hanging around and pestering them, it was so awesome to see this car. We went to Oswego Dragway to watch them break in the new car. They ran a 12.12 and 118.42 right out of the gate. The Muraders AFX Comet was there with Ed Rashanski and Gary Dyer turning about the same time. You have to remember, both cars were new and fresh out of the gate.
Mr. Norm took us in. We traveled in a dealer-plated, red and white 1964 Dodge convertible. We traveled to Union Grove, Wisconsin for more testing and fine tuning. We recorded all the times for him and the car. We went to a few other racetracks with him.
For him to take the time to be a father to 2 boys that grew up without a father will always be special in our hearts. Thanks, Mr. Norm for being there for two kids that loved drag racing and didn't have a father. RIP

I guess from all of the persons who are sending their remembrances, I knew Babe (Norm) the longest. I almost never new him by the name of Norm. I was sorry to read about his untimely death, he was such a health nut. In latter years, we did not see each other as in early years. He was a person who outwardly tried to show he was a strong, quick tempered guy. But that is not what he was. To me he was a real "puppy." A truly nice person. My condolences to Lee, Lyle, and Lori. Also to his family, of whom I do not know. So long pal, 87 years is a nice number, but not long enough for you.

Norm was simply a great person. I came to know him through my son Jeff who worked with Mr. Norm and crew. The automotive world lost an innovator and a pioneer. Rest in peace Norm, as you will always be remembered by the Klawitter family, especially on my granddaughter Madison's birthday, which Norm and Fran drove down from Chicago to attend when she was a little child. That meant the world to me and I'll never forget that. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kraus family at this most difficult time.
