Norman F. Nussbaum, the man who gave the world so much love, left it Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at age 91, peacefully at home with his family, in Kimberly, WI. Born March 5, 1915, in Buffalo, NY, the son of Emma, nee Brauninger and Hubert A. Nussbaum. He enjoyed a long and successful career in Hospitality. Buying his first tavern, in Buffalo, at age 21, he moved into full service restaurants. After the war, he moved to Florida, working his way up to the position of Food and Beverage Director at the Chicago-owned Saxony Hotel, on Miami Beach. In 1961, encouraged by his Chicago-born wife, Marcy, he moved to the city, where he managed such operations as the old Sheraton-Chicago, the Ambassador Hotels, and the Blackstone. During a three year period, he went to Washington, D.C., running Lyndon Johnson's Innaugural Ball, and made a short stay in Atlanta, before returning to Chicago to finish his career as Manager of the Mid-Day Club, atop the old First National Bank building. Working until he was 77, he finally retired to the banks of the Wolf River, in Fremont, WI, and spent his last years in Kimberly, WI. Preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Michael. He is survived by his son's widow, Diann and his two other sons, Robert and Norman;his loving wife of 54 years, Marcy, nee Weller; in-laws Jean (Weller) and Jim Shedden; grandchildren Daniel (and partner), Dawn (Shane) Thomas, Deeona, Roger (and partner), and Robert (Jenny) Nussbaum; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss his warmth, his wit, and his wisdom. A simple cremation, pending a gathering of family a some yet-to-be determined time and place, will take place at Fargo/Wichmann Funeral Services, of Kaukauna, WI.

I have great memories that will be with me forever. Grandpa always took an interest in my art and sent me art supplies and books, which I still have. I still have a little yellow car that was given to me from the day I was born. I guess I surprised him by being a girl. I will always remember Grandpa getting together with his sons & grandsons and telling jokes for hours, and there is that Nussbaum Movie gene that he pass down to all of us. What fun we had. Everyone is in my heart and in my prayers. I am here for you always.
All my love, Deeona

We were truly blessed to have had the opportunity to bring your great grand children Duncan, the twins Ben and Lexi, and little Josie to visit last summer. We often speak of how Lexi curled up next to Grandpa while he caressed her back and marveled at her long hair. Truly a wonderful time. We miss and love you all greatly. Know that we are here for you all just for the asking.
