I have a very strong memory of Pete from his days at Kemper. I started out in the mailroom at Kemper in the late `80s. During that time I was taking classes to become a computer programmer. At one point I mentioned this to Pete and he literally (and immediately) helped me to land a job as a Data Processing Assistant, a person who basically assists the real programmers. I eventually became a full-fledged programmer and been one ever since. I owe a lot to him. Like others here mentioned, he was a very kind helpful person and I will never forget him.

To the McEnery Family, Please know that Pete and you are in my prayers and Masses. I lived across the street from Pete and his family growing up. We graduated from St. Mel Grammar (58) and High (62) Schools together. Pete was at a Cross Country Meet at Niles West a few years ago so we spent some time talking. I fondly recall all the good times we had as kids. My dad and then myself delivered milk to Sammy's where Pete worked. We may have physically lost touch over the years but mentally he was always there in my mind when I thought of the "old" days on Wilcox Street in Chicago.

To the McEnery Family -
I was shocked and saddened to learn of Pete's sudden passing. Pete and I were "cubicle" neighbors in a "quad" along with Jill Snyder and Priscilla Mortland for several years at Kemper. We could always look forward to Pete's sense of humor, kind and patient manner, and knowledge and expertise when needed. His great, upbeat personality kept us going sometimes, especially as we starting leaving the company we had known as "family" for many years. He will be sorely missed by friends and family, I'm sure. My deepest condolences to Joan, his children and the rest of the family. God Bless.

Joan and Family -
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of a truly good man. Pete always had the energy and patience to help with what seemed to be hopelessly confusing questions and situations. He will be remembered in our prayers.

I worked with Pete for over 30 years and I'm extremely saddened to hear of his passing. Pete was a wonderful co-worker and and a terrific person. He was always willing to help me with projects or to just lend and good laugh when I needed one. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to the McEnery family.

Dear McEnerny Family,
I worked with Pete and carpooled on occasion in the 80's and 90's. All at Kemper admired and respected this fine man who guided us through some very trying times as the company began to unravel. I am so sorry for the untimely loss this kind gentleman.
