Philip E. O'Connor. Beloved husband and best friend of Patricia (nee Newell) for 62 happy years. Father of Mary (Ken) Gennett, Anne Sullivan, Philip (Beverly) and Kathleen (Art) Kraft. Dearest Papa of Philip, Richie and Steven (Danielle) Sullivan; Kevin, Brian and Philip O'Connor and Matthew Iannacco. Great-grandfather of Aidan O'Connor and Gabriel Sullivan. Brother of Eamon (Kitty) O'Connor He is preceded in death by his siblings Maureen, Michael and Kathleen. Born in CastleIsland, Co. Kerry, Ireland to Edward and Hannah O'Connor. Phil came to Chicago to live out his dreams. He retired from the CTA after 42 years of dedicated service and was a longtime member and contributor of the Irish American Heritage Center. Visitation at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge on Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, Family and Friends are asked to meet at St. James Church, 841 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Hts. Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Misericordia or St. Patrick Fathers would be appreciated. Dear Pat I am so Sorry for your loss I will always remember Phil For his smile and generosity, not only did he love his children he was so proud of his grandchildren as well I wil miss his Irish Brough and and his honesty when I was getting a lil on the heavy side, I can still hear him saying 'Michelle do you know what it costs to run this place if u your cold than put on a sweater"he also made sure my daughter Hayley was indeed on her best behavior God Bless his soul I know I am a better person just becausehe took the time to know me you and your family are in my prayers may God Comfort you and hold you tight in your time of mourning. Pat, we are so sorry we cannot be with you through this time of sorrow. We are currently on our way back from Cape Cod. Phil was a kind spirit...he would always make room for us at his table. I remember Phil very well,I was one of the Superintentans at North Park were he worked. No matter how things got at time he would always have a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. Not one of his co-worker every went home short on pay he would aways fine a way for them to make up therir lose. He was a very good and kind man and will be missed.
