Just missing you, my friend, my big brother, my boss, my confidant. I love you Rick! I will make sure I stay in touch with the love of your life, Janice!

I just found out today that you left me. I loved you dearly, Rick. You were my brother from another mother, the best manager I ever worked for, and my friend. We were like a well-oiled machine and invincible. You were a private man, but one of the best men I will ever know, with your dry sense of humor and quick wit. I read all of the other posts and started reflecting when I read Bert's and Patti's. We all were a great team and you and Bert were partners in crime.

Dear Janice, Kate, and the grandchildren:

Your father and grandfather was awesome--you couldn't get any better than Richard Francis Grob. You know, Janice, you have my love and condolences. Stay strong, as I know you will. Someone wrote that he is going to send you messages. That sounds just like him, protecting his girls at all cost. My heart is heavy because I lost one of my best friends that cannot be replaced. But, I still have you, Janice, and you have me. Love you all!

Janice "Jan" Lewis

Dear Janice and Kate,

My deepest condolences to you both for the loss of an incredible soul, "Grob" as he referred to himself when signing off text messages or email. Rick was full of strength, love, and a sense of humor that he freely shared with many. He was consoling me in my time of grief and did not share his own struggle until I was on the mend. At the end of every message he reminded me to stay safe. Just like when he was our inflight manager in EWRSW. Fly safe, have a safe trip. Upon our return we would find little gifts in our mail box. Small treasures, one memorable was a mirrored compact to check our appearance, no doubt. In 1991, I had been scooped up by United three days after my employment with Eastern Airlines went belly up. Rick and I were standing out at the United gate and I said to him, "look at that beautiful concourse Continental has, one day that will belong to United!" He must have thought I was crazy that day... but when it happened, I called him and said, "see I told you"! May you have many happy memories to share. May you find comfort in the angel wings that enfold your family in this time of grief. Grob told me he would be sending you messages from the other side. I asked, how will they know? He said, "they will know". God Bless and stay safe!

I worked with Rick in Cleveland Inflight; one of my favorite times was when he would come in in the morning after I had been there for 3-4 hours, sit down and tell me a joke! Silly yes, but Rick had his own sense of humor. He will be sorely missed!
