It was lovely to see her picture on this email. I think of her often. She is in my heart and made my Youth easier when I went through challenges. She was always so kind and loved my Fiance.

Rick, Jeff, and Mike- Rita was so very special to my wife Ellen and I. Rita even gets an assist for Ellen and I meeting and being married for 30 years. When Rita was Administrator at Glen Oaks Nursing Home she hired Nancy Amato (my future mother-in-law)as Assistant Adminastrator. With Rita's encouragement, Nancy's daughter Ellen began working in the nursing home kitchen, where I happened to be working at the time. Ellen and I started dating and eventually married. If Rita had not hired Nancy or encouraged Ellen to work there, then our happy little family most likely never would have happened. Rita was such a wonderful person to work for. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Scott Phillips (formerly of Woodbine Lane in Northbrook, around the corner from Shannon)

My deepest condolences go out to the entire Steinback family. Rita was one of a kind. She was like a second mother to me. If I needed to talk, she was always there and enjoyed talking to me always as she didn't have anything close to a daughter, in those days. I truly loved her and she will be missed by all. We lived across the street on Shannon in Northbrook and my parents were close friends for many years. Rest in Peace dear Rita. Love to all the family.
I'm out of the country, or I would be at the memorial tomorrow. Namaste

Rita will truly be missed. She always had a verve for life and was so appreciative of her own. She had a great compassion and understanding of others and was always concerned about her family and friends. She was always politically aware and she spoke her mind freely about the things that were important to her.
Our deepest sympathy and love go out to dad and the Steinback family. We will see you soon.

Rita and I were such good friends all through school at Sullivan in Chicago.
And...we were neighbors also...
However, we lost touch in later years.
I remember her as being such a lovely person...and a lot of fun...
I am so sorry to read this in the Tribune....I have fond memories of her...

My deepest sympathies to the Steinback family on the passing of Rita. I played baseball with Mike from Little League thru high school and remember Mort and Rita attending many, many games supporting Mike. Great lady will be missed but remembered fondly.

So grateful for Rita's life, and the grace which flowed from her. She was such a friend to our mom when she was struggling in her life. Her middle name, "Hope," is so appropriate. God's peace to all.
