Ronald Kapolnek Obituary

Ronald George Kapolnek, 58, entered into God's Kingdom on April 24th, 2017, in Door County, WI. Cherished husband of Jean (née Rountree) for 33 years; devoted father of Kathryn, Eileen (Stephen) Pounds, Danielle (Jason) Szmanda and James; caring grandfather of Kelsey, Lex, Winnie and Fiona Pounds and Lou Szmanda. A native Chicagoan, Ron was born June 12, 1958, the loving son of Mary (née Straube) and the late George; son-in-law of Kathleen (née McManaman) and the late Tom; dearest brother of Linda (Steve) Foy, Bill (Karen Redmond), John (Mary), Mary Kay (Peter) Nedza and Kathy Collins; fond brother-in-law of Tim (Lori), Michael (Tricia), Julie (Edward) Wiss, the late Daniel and Tom (Jenn); beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews; treasured nephew, cousin and an incredible friend. Ron was a proud alumnus of St. Patrick High School ('76) and served on the Board of Trustees as treasurer and chairman of the finance committee. He had a lifelong career in the spirits industry and built many fruitful relationships, both domestic and international. Ron packed a lifetime of love, adventure and late night capers into his 58 years. He put his heart and soul into everything he did: his relationships, his work and his love of the Cubbies. He will leave behind a remarkable legacy of kindness and generosity. Family and friends whose lives Ron touched are invited to his Celebration of Life Memorial Mass at Old St. Patrick's Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago, IL 60661, at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 5th, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Patrick High School, 5900 West Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL 60634, and please indicate 'In Memory of Ron Kapolnek.' I have sadly just learned of Ron's far too soon passing. My condolences to Ron's wife, children and extended family. I worked with Ron running the Australian Jim Beam financial operation and was fortunate to participate in the relationship Ron fostered with all of the Australian employees. Ron was a generous mentor (some would say tormentor, haha) and he supported our business on a regular basis. A good man lost to us all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Kindest regards Greg Bugden

I think of the days in accounting at Beatrice Foods (long long ago) when Ron was so energetically and enthusiastically running around getting work done and interacting in his jovial way with everyone. He always added energy and vibe to our entire side of the office.
Everyone appreciated Ron and his positive way.
I am truly sorry to hear this. He will be remembered fondly and truly missed.
My husband and I will contribute to St. Pat's HS in his honor.
It is hard to even to end this note as I feel as I am saying good bye to him right now. My best wishes and love to his wonderful family in this most difficult time.
