Rudolph Guzik

Rudolph ("Rudy") Patrick Guzik, 75, of Frankfort, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side, February 27, 2015. Rudy earned degrees in Physics (BS from Illinois Institute of Technology; MS Northeastern Illinois University) and worked as an optical engineer in R&D for technology companies such as Apeco, Bell & Howell, and Rockwell International, later forming his own consulting company, Imaging Technology Consultants. He was president of the Chicago chapter of SPIE/OSC for many years. He was a judge for 35 years at the Chicago City Science Fair and offered a self-funded award to encourage youth to pursue science. He was a gifted musician and played both classical and jazz piano, as well as the accordion. He also was a talented artist in many media and worked with holographic artists. Beloved father of Sharon (Jack Beusmans) of Medford, MA; Audrey (Don Mathis) of Sudbury, MA; and Lauren (Neil Impelluso) of Manchester, CT. Devoted life partner of Daneen Rusnak Guzik. Grandfather of Ari and Izaak Beusmans, Elena and Lily Mathis, and Ethan Impelluso; brother of Leona (David) Edwards of FL and T. Gregory (Jane Goodman) Guzik of LA. Son of the late Rudolph Frank Guzik and Patricia Anne Guzik (nee Jankauskas). A memorial gathering is planned for Sunday, March 29 at 1:00 pm at Chef Klaus' Bier Stube, 20827 S.
