RUDY RODRIGUEZ Obituary
Rudy Rodriguez, age 62, retired Chicago police officer, narcotics unit, with over 32 years of service was called home to God on Monday, surrounded by loved ones. He battled cancer with grace, dignity and kept his sense of humor to the end; cherished son of Rodolfo and Lucille; beloved step-father of Jose (Peewee) Bonilla; loving brother of Anthony, Ricardo, retired CPD 010 (Violeta), Philip, Lulu (Sam) Bologna, Elyse, Barbara Hart and the late Rita Davino; fond uncle fo Erik (CPD, fugitive unit), Saul, Jason, Rafael and Brittany; great uncle of Lexi, Mariano and Nola; special nephew to many aunts and uncles; dearest friend to Sylvia Bonilla; and cherished friend to many. A member of the FOP. It's been a while and now I could express what my cousin Rudy meant to me. He was my Savior when I was Young and gave me that chance asking the Judge Eugene Pinchum to give me a chance putting his reputation as an Officer that I would change my life Around or he would resign if i didnt, and I did change for the better.
All my cousins mean very much to me for that matter, and Rudy was my Savior. Along with God giving me the Love for Music. I love you Rudy and say hello to everyone up there for me.

To the family; I was a student at Harper High School (68-72) when I met you dad, we became friends. today I am the head of a railroad police department and fell that it was postive influences from people like Rudy who helped shape my life and career. My deepest and most sincere sympathy goes out to all the Rodriquez family. Rudy and I worked together on the job and off the job at Harper High School in 1970. If there was ever a better policeman, I didn't meet him in my thirty-two year career.. Rudy was what we call a policeman's policeman, and more importantly, he was a great friend. I would like to extend my deepest symphathy to the family of Rudy Rodriguez.I have known Rudy since the age of 12. We met while swimming at the McKinley Park pool. Later in life, it was my privledge to work with Rudy while in the narcotic unit. Anytime you were with Rudy, he always made you feel like you were his best friend. I am so sorry to hear about Rudy. I went to Kelly High School with Ricky, Violet, and Rudy. I have not seen Rudy for years but I know he was no different than his high school days. He was kind, always a gentleman and a great person. It's no wonder he went into Law Enforcement - he always cared about people.
