I've been fortunate to have known Sam since we were children growing up in Melrose Park. Sam always treated me with respect and was always a great friend. He had a generous and loving heart and was always a gentleman. One of my fondest memories of Sam is when I moved to Mundelein from Melrose Park and my house needed siding and gutters. Sam came to the rescue. He did a wonderful job 35 years ago and it is still looking like new today. The funny part of the story is ... A job that should have taken 4 days took 2 weeks because every morning he would show up to work with a bag of food for me to cook for him and Dominic his worker for lunch. They would work hard all morning while I cooked. When lunch was served it turned into a party with us eating and talking and laughing. Needless to say lunch lasted all afternoon! We had a wonderful time and by the time we got done with the festivities the day was done only to start again the next morning with another bag of food. I made all his favorites. The best part is that we shared our stories and laughter. SAM , you are one of my oldest and dearest friends and I treasue the times we spent together. You are now my angel in heaven watching over me. Until we meet again on the other side. I LOVE YOU SAM.

There are a lot of stories I could tell about Sammy, but what it all comes down to is that he was a very nice guy, thoughtful and considerate. If you needed anything, he was there for you. He was very respectful of my parents who always thought kindly of him because of that.

There aren't many people like that any more, he passed too young and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

Sam is one of the few people who always showed respect to my grandmother, Dolly DiSanti, whenever she was outside and he would drive by he'd stop to say hello.

I always bumped into Sammy at the bars in/around Melrose, when I heard of his passing I purposefully went and bought a 6 pack of St. Pauli Girl to have a few drinks thinking of him. He turned me on to St. Pauli Girl 20+ years back. Here's to you Sammy, a class act who's gone too soon.

My greatest memory of Sammy was taking him out to lunch to New Star one hot afternoon a couple years back.. I'll never forget him ordering the Hong Kong steak that was his favorite dish at this popular nieghborhood joint..My jolly friend had a tremendous passion for food & cooking..He was really cautious to always keep his diet healthy and fresh..I remember him resting his hand on my shoulder as we were exiting and thinking to myself how difficult life was for him not being able to get around as he pleased..I felt great to be able to assist him to his truck & spend that quality time with him..You are with the angels now Sammy Fly high above and no every time I think of Hong Kong steak I will definitely think of you.. Thank you so much for always helping my family and being there to support us..I will never forget your ginormous heart & good deeds Sincerely Dannett

Thoughts, prayers and hugs are sent your way, often, during this season of loss. I thought it was wonderful that you could all spend this time together, celebrating Figianna's graduation with honors and that he could stay with her and spend time with Mia. Those memories are sure to be treasured, coming so close to this time! Hold each other close! Only God knows the plans He has for each of us, but we know that His plans are always good, to give us a future and a hope!

I knew him so little,;you knew him so much!
But he loved his children, and was grateful for their touch.
No finer legacy can there be, than to own those who love
you, for who you were meant to be.

God bless you, all!
