I'll never forget how much Sean loved being a leader. It was so natural for him. Although younger than me, I looked up to Sean like a younger brother looks up to his older brother. He was trustworthy, full of integrity, and just a lot of fun to be around. He and I did not keep in touch after college and I learned of his passing only today. Mrs. Noland, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Sean was an incredible person who helped and guided everyone who crossed his path. He will be missed greatly.

Mrs. Noland,

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. Sean placed me in my job around two months ago. He wasn't a recruiter to me. He was a first class person. He was very sincere in his efforts to help me and spoke to me more like a friend he had known for years.

Sean, I will miss you very much. I will miss you coming to me for advice on how to close a candidate on an offer or how to deal w/ a diffcult client. I want you to know that I learned from you much, much more then you learned from me. I learned from you to maximize every day, live life to its fullest, and to Carpe Diem! I want you to know that I was always very proud of you, you were the perfect person to mentor and I will never forget you. Mrs. Noland, you did a fabulous job w/ Sean, he truly demonstrated how a son should love and honor his mother. It is very clear to me that God is with you and he has given you the strength to handle this tough situation. Sean w/ the help of the Lord will continue to take care of you up in Heaven. God Bless you.

I met Noland at Blarney Island when I was about fourteen. He was so funny, and so tall. I have been to all of the proceddings this week. The funeral today was one of the hardest days I have ever had to get through. Standing in the cemetary today I looked at his final resting place and noticed the large red roses that sat atop his casket. It reminded me of my favorite story of Sean that I believe represents exactly who he was. I was about sixteen and working at the Island. Sean and I were talking during work, and he mentioned that it was his mother's birthday. He asked me to go to the store and pick up the flowers he had ordered for Karen because he couldn't be with her. So he gave me some money and I stuck it in my pocket not looking. I don't remember the exact number but when I arrived to pick up the flowers for Noland I was greeted by three staff members with dozens and dozens of roses. I had to take two trips when carrying them into Mrs. Nolands house that day. I will remember the expression of joy and laughter on Karen's face forever. I will dearly miss Sean, but he has inspired me to live life like it is my last day, every day. To Mrs. Noland, I know that there is an empty place in your heart, and I hope that you know that according to Sean the sun rose and set on you. He will always be with you.

Sean,

Your presence will be truly be missed. From the crazy times with the “gang” with Kevin, Joe and the others from when you were in high school and the later visits of you and Joe to SIU there are so many stories to tell… I could go on for ever. As a second little brother I cannot even express how much you will be missed. Stacey and “the twins” and all the good times I cannot even think how life will be with out you in Chicago trying to get me to move back. I feel like I have lost a limb and will never be the same. Shock, sorrow, and madness I cannot even figure out how I feel except I will miss you so much it is crazy. Sean was able to do all the things that I wanted to do but never seemed to have the “time” to do… I can only help that his life can serve as an inspiration for me and others to seize the day and live every day to its maximum and cherish your friends, family and opportunities.

I have set up a site that I will try to maintain in perpetuity for Sean and his memory… you can post pictures and comments on each…. Please visit and share some of the experiences you have had with Sean. www.thenolands.com/gallery/sean or email to [email protected]

Love always

I worked with Sean and shared an office with him for over a year at Ajilon. I miss watching him in action every day, on the phone, and being his charismatic self. The way he would stand up, hands on hips, headset on, while closing a deal was truly a wonderful thing to watch. I feel his loss every day. My thoughts and prayers are with you too Mrs. Noland, every day. You did such a wonderful job raising that son of yours. We all loved him.

He was always persistent to acknowledge this in his friends. My deepest sympathies and prayers are with the Noland family and our friends during this time of tragic loss. God Bless.

What a great loss for this close and loving family. I had the pleasure of getting to know Sean briefly as a part of the wedding party of Chris & Stacey Noland. He always had a smile on his face. Though it was an emotional wedding for me, I couldn't help but smile every time I saw Sean. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Sean was a great friend, and an even greater mentor. I, and I am sure everyone who ever met him, will miss him dearly. He was a true inspiration to me, as well as my second big brother. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I went to grade school at St. Peter with Sean and while he was a few years older than me...I always remember what a nice boy he was. Mrs. Nolan, you did a good job raising him, always remember that. You have already suffered such a terrible loss, with your husband passing away and now Sean. Please know I will hold you close to my heart...I am so sorry you have had to face such terrible loss. Know you raised a fine man though. May perpetual light shine upon him...

Brian Schultz

August 30, 2005

Just a little note... I never met Sean in person but he and I had a unique relationship.... he was my recruiter. As a matter of fact, he just placed me in a wonderful position on Friday night and stopped what he was doing to call me and let me know about it. He was very happy for me and the last words we spoke was about getting together and finally meeting each other. While I not have the opportunity to meet with him, I will cherish the time I spent talking to him about life, boating, kids and, oh yes, we did eventually talk about getting a job.

Please know that my prayers are with you. Remember the good times spent with him (I am sure there were many) and I know I will think about Sean every time I see a sailboat.

Karen-

I do not have the words to say. The lives of the people Sean has touched are fovever changed and he will be missed dearly.

Sean was wise beyond his years and that showed during his college days, when I had the honor to start my friendship with him. He was a friend and confidant to many of us at UIowa and the Phi Delta Theta house.

You have my deepest sympathy...and I will take away all the great memories of the summers at your house and the times Sean and I shared in Iowa City and Chicago.

Words cannot express the sorrow you must feel and I can't even begin to tell you what Sean meant to his countless friends, although you already know what a wonderful son we know he was.

Please accept my most sincere and deepest condolences in this loss which will undoubtedly take all of us a very, very long time to even begin to accept. Sean touched and influenced everyone who was fortunate enough to have met him. As a dear and loved friend, I will forever miss Sean and hold close to my heart the memories I have of him.
