Steven Shapiro Obituary

Steven A. Shapiro, 71, passed away September 25, 2022. The beloved husband of 50 years and best friend to Patti (nee Yale); devoted father of Elizabeth (Andrew) Abrams and Andy (Michele) Shapiro; proud and loving grandfather of Maya, Samantha, Simon, and Eli; cherished brother of Lorraine (Jerry) Block and David (Catherine Huart) Shapiro; dear brother-in-law of Dr. Russell (Susan) Yale; adored son of the late Evelyn and late Harry Shapiro and son-in-law of the late Muriel and Dr. Seymour Yale; loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Steven was a practicing attorney for more than 40 years and a retired partner of Katten Muchin Rosenman. His greatest joys were his beloved grandchildren. Steven took pride in watching his granddaughters grow up in Northbrook, where he raised his own family, and enjoying his grandsons in Los Angeles, where Steven and Patti found their second home. Steven was a South Side native, who loved his White Sox, and even became a Dodgers fan (despite the 1959 World Series). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Congregation BJBE, 1201 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield, interment private. I know Steve from our mutual service on the Fast Forward Advisory Board of the National MS Society. Steve was always there with ideas and a perspective as well as a lawyerly approach to transactions. He will be missed.
