Virginia Anne Kasserman, age 83, of Newton, IL, passed away 10:05 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, in Newton, IL, with Rev. Louis Youngs officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery in Newton, IL. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at the funeral home. In loving memory of Virginia, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Newton. Virginia was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Dewey and Mary Elizabeth, nee Weber, Connor, Sr. She married George W. Kasserman, Jr. on Feb. 14, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2005. Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, Chapter FN P.E.O. Sisterhood and Ladies Auxiliary of the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Virginia is survived by son, Kent (Vicky) Kasserman, of Savoy, IL; grandchildren, Shawn (Dawn) Kasserman, Amy (Brian) O'Connell, Kerry (Scott) Middlebrooks and Nicole Kasserman; great-grandchildren, Katherine, John, Andrew and Lucie Kasserman and Brett and Reilly O'Connell; and brother, Dewey Connor, Jr., of Newton, IL; Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son John Kasserman.

Donna and I send our heartfelt condolences to Virgina Anne's family and friends. Virginia and I were raised two and a half blocks apart. She was a beautiful person and always considered a dear, sweet friend.
