I am filled with heart break, shock, and devastation at the news of Ed´s passing. My prayers love and thoughts go out to the Burns family during this most difficult time. I had the honor of working for Ed at JOE´s Bar from 1993 to 1996. With that being said, I would like to honor first the truth that it was Ed who kept me and my 4 year old son fed and a roof over our head. I have never forgotten what he and his beautiful family did for us.
I remember at first I felt intimidated by Ed. He held a serious demeanor, but he had to being a successful business man and owning several successful establishments. It wouldn´t be until later on that I would see the true heart, the funny side, and the even more wonderful man he was. I witnessed him giving his heart to friends and helping them. His funny side when he´d share stories. I would laugh so hard I would almost be in tears. I remember seeing this huge smile on his face..... pure happiness, when he married you Rhonda. I also remember the pure joy and smile on his face when you both were expecting Karlee and then later Tyler. With all that he had to be proud of, you all were at the top of his list. It is then I think we all saw the softer side of Ed that just kept blossoming.
Danny, my heart goes out to you of course, and I can´t imagine your pain as well. Along with your brother you both taught me how to pay attention to detail, but also see the bigger picture when it came to working at JOE´s. I carried many things you both taught me, and one of the most important to believe in myself. I thank you both so very much.
Again the news of hearing the loss of a truly remarkable person, a person who truly cared about other people, leaves me with great shock heartbreak and devastation. If there is a celebration of life I truly am disappointed in missing, it is the celebration of life for Ed. I can´t get the time off work here in Reno, with a short notice. This one hurts huge. Please know I am with you in spirit, and I am so terribly sorry.
