George Dailey Obituary
GEORGE DAILEY George Dailey stepped from his mortal tethers, ending his corporeal journey on Monday, October 5, 2015. His spirit carries forth in his two children and their spouses, Kathy & David, Chris & Karen, granddaughter, Alyson & her husband Joey, grandson Graham, and his latest scion, his great-granddaughter, Isabela Quinn. Godspeed. Born in southern CA in 1934, George's family moved to Siskiyou County, CA where he completed grammar & high school in Yreka, participating in school sports & government. Here, too, he met his first wife, the mother of his children, June (nee Walthard) Dailey. His path led him to the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, on to business school in San Francisco where he gained his Certified Public Accountant licensure. In 1969 he settled his family in Chico. He partnered with several fine accountants, in time forming the Harrison, Dailey, Wright Accountancy Corporation. George's easy manner and command of the nuances of his field gave his clients and associates a sense of security as they negotiated complex aspects of personal and business finance. George's desire to help people extended to good works in the community where he served tirelessly with the Noon Exchange Club of Chico and sat on the Board of Directors of several non-profits, most recently California Vocations, Inc. of Paradise, CA, The Peg Taylor Center and The Far Western Heritage Association, Patrick Ranch, both in Chico, CA. George was fond of sweets - especially fudge - and of fine scotch whiskey. His interests included dancing to the tunes of the Big Band & Chet Atkins, flying small aircraft, calligraphy, photography, and riding the forgotten roads of the west on motorcycles with his son. He enjoyed visiting his daughter's family in Hawaii, listening to slack key guitar. He was endlessly charmed by the wondrous, verdant beauty of nature in all its forms. George seldom declined an opportunity to savor a meal with family and friends, cheer on his favorite ball teams, engage in a political debate, watch an adventure movie, or share a salty joke. George was, in the end, the perfectly imperfect man and we in his family love him very much. The family wants to thank his friends, business associates, and care givers for enriching his life and, in so doing, enriching ours. Pursuant to his wishes, there will be no memorial services. Donations in his memory can be made to the non-profit agencies mentioned above.
