JACK FOX Jackie (Jack) Lavaughn Fox passed away on December 15, 2020 while visiting their vacation home in Palm Desert, California. Jack was born in Kentucky on August 9, 1937. After several moves, he spent his high school years in Portland, Indiana. At the age of 18 he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served for three years. He then joined the Fort Wayne Indiana Air National Guard while a student at Ball State University and was called up to serve in France during the construction of the Berlin Wall. He graduated from Ball State with a degree in education and moved to California to be a math teacher. After a year of teaching in Pomona, CA he moved to Santa Barbara, CA to get his Master's Degree in Education at UCSB and was hired to become the golf and soccer coach. He started the UCSB Equestrian program, ran the UCSB Family Vacation Center, and was the UCSB Alumni Director for many years. Jack spent one year as the Alumni Director at the University of Houston, and then returned to California where he ran a jewelry business in San Diego. He imported and manufactured jewelry which he sold to US military bases across the country and also owned a retail store on State Street in Santa Barbara called Side Street Boutique. He wanted to conclude his career back in education, and moved to Chico, CA where he worked for three years and retired as the CSU Chico Alumni Director. He retired in August 2000, and that same week he and Nancy Carpenter McDougal were married aboard a cruise ship in Vancouver, BC. Together they traveled the world and spent countless hours volunteering for many causes they loved, including the Chico State Golf Team and CASA. Jack lived a full and adventurous life he loved family and friends, golf, cars, horses, travel, fishing and cooking. He wrote and published a cookbook called "I Do Too Know How To Boil WaterI Just Don't Know When It's Done". He leaves behind his wife Nancy, daughter Jackie Jean (J.J.) Wills (Darin), stepsons Brendon McDougal (Karen) and Ryan McDougal (Kristy), and four grandchildren: Dylan Wills, Maddie, Kaitlin, and Owen McDougal.
