KATHERINE VOGT Katherine F. Vogt passed away at 5:00 in the afternoon on Monday, February 1, 2016 of natural causes. Katherine was under hospice care and living with her family in Chico, California. Katherine was 87 years old. Katherine was born in Iowa in 1928. Her family moved to Southern California when she was in the first grade. At age 19, she met the love of her life, Jerry Vogt, at a young adult's Methodist church group in Southern California. It was love at first sight for both of them and three months later they were married. Kathy and Jerry enjoyed camping, boating and playing bridge. As a matter of fact, she loved playing bridge so much that would drive from Orland to Yuba City once or twice a week for a card game. They had three children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one more on the way. Kathy retired from being a school secretary at Selby Grove Elementary School in 1981. At that time, Kathy and Jerry moved to Orland, California to be near family. She loved and enjoyed her job. Once, recently, on reflecting on her life, she said, "I was good at my job." Katherine was an avid reader. She loved old westerns and movies and "Bing! Bing!" the game show channel. Her weekly visit to Denise at Deserg was a must for a doo and manicure. Katherine was survived by her children, Sharon Hernandez, Gary Vogt , Richard Vogt, grandchild-ren and great-grand-children and one on the way. A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 4:00PM-8:00PM at F D Sweet & Son, 825 A Street, Orland CA. Graveyard services will be held at on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Orland California at 2:00PM. A reception will follow the services. Information regarding the reception will be given at the service. The family would like to thank Enloe Hospice Care for all their support, love, kindness and care Katherine and company received. We would like to thank Deserg for always helping Katherine look and feel her best. She truly loved you all. Katherine is currently at F D Sweet and Son's Mortuary in Orland California.
