PAULENE CRIPE WRIGHT

1919 - 2022

PAULENE CRIPE WRIGHT Paulene was born in Putnam, OK, December 21, 1919 to Eldon and Bertha Cripe. She was the oldest of four children. Her family moved to El Camino, CA in 1924. After graduating from Red Bluff High in 1937, Paulene attended La Verne College, and Chico State. She married Harold S. Wright in 1941 and lived in Chico raising three daughters. Paulene was the office manager/bookkeeper working alongside Harold as they started Wright's Service Station in 1944 becoming Firestone Tire Dealers and transitioned to Automotive Supply and Upholstery Shop in 1946, which later became Wright's Toy Center. Paulene was welcomed to her Eternal Home by her Lord and Savior and by her husband Harold, parents, great granddaughter Nivedita, and many friends on Tuesday morning, June 21, 2022. Paulene is survived by her three daughters, Elaine Colvin (Bob) of Bainbridge Island, WA; daughter, Carol Wright of Chico; and daughter, Rita Craddock (Joe) of Chico; five grandchildren, Cheryle Tiernan (Dustin Boeger), Cathy Wattnem (Shan), Heather Howell (Lawrence), Doug Craddock (Lisa), and Nicole Gulati (Sumeet), and sixteen great grandchildren (Hannah, Cassia, Nathanial, Josiah and Micah Wattnem, Colin and Devin Boeger, Benjamin and Griffin Howell, Gwynneth, Meredith, Bronwyn and Evan Craddock, and Sakshee, Nishtha and Vidya Gulati. Paulene was an active member of The Gideon's International Auxiliary for 70 years and a member of the Evangelical Free Church. Memorial donations may be made through Newton Bracewell Funeral Home to Banyan Tree Counseling, her granddaughter's non-profit organization working with orphans and disadvantaged children.
