Rafat S. Brooks

RAFAT SHALCHI BROOKS Rafat Shalchi Brooks passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2015. She was a loving, nurturing, compassionate, and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, and nurse. Born in Iran, she graduated first in her class from nursing school and later taught psychiatric nursing for two years. Afterward, she moved to the United States where she met her future husband Joseph Brooks, M.D. She subsequently moved to Chico whereupon along with raising her four children, she completed her Masters Degree in Nursing from Chico State. For the last forty years she was the backbone of her husband's medical practice, providing care and support for countless patients. She gave selflessly, and everything she did was done with an intense desire to achieve perfection. She loved her plants, animals, friends, family, and above all God. She was loved, respected, and admired by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband of forty-four years Joseph, her children Roxana, Stephanie, Timothy, and Natasha, her mother Fezeh, sisters Nezhat, Effie Khaki of Chico, Heideh, brother Omid, and many nieces and nephews. Rafat will be deeply missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 4, 2015 at Brusie Funeral Home at 10 a.m.
