William Gannon Obituary

William Thomas Gannon, 79, died on July 4, 2005 in Oroville. He was born on May 7, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

He was a professor of philosophy for Niagara University for 18 years. He moved to Oroville in 1990 from Lewiston, N.Y. He enjoyed international travel and playing tennis. He was an avid builder of grandfather clocks in the past.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Dankwardt of Westborough, Mass., Theresa Witt of Elk Grove, Calif., Mary McFarland of Cedar Park, Texas and Kristin Puglisi of Dunkirk, N.Y.; brother, James Gannon of Hemet, Calif.; sister, Mary Cimmino of Carlsbad, Calif.; grandchildren, Erin and Kelsey McFarland of Cedar Park, Texas and Carl Dankwardt of Westborough, Mass. and former wife of 25 years, Betty Gannon of Cedar Park, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

Contributions can be made to Catholic Relief Services, P.O. Box 17152, Baltimore, MD 21298. A funeral mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2005 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Oroville. Scheer Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
