Robert L. Dorman

CHILLICOTHE: Robert L. Dorman, 71, died as the result of a long term nicotine addiction at 11:22 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 in The Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center unexpectedly.

He was born August 25, 1945, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Jack and Lillian Kaltenbach Dorman. On October 19, 1991, she married Lelia C. Dorman who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Rob Dorman, of Chillicothe, Brandon (Sheri) Dorman, of Antioch, TN and Ryan (Kami) Dorman, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kyle, Logan, Chase, Zane, Samantha, Nicholas, Kasey and Wes; a sister, Barb Hurley, of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews; a special friend whom he considered to be his brother, Randy Penwell, of Bainbridge; and many friends and extended family members all whom adored him. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kaylee.

Robert worked as a Road Master for CSX Railroad. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Bainbridge American Legion Post. Robert loved the beauty of the hills in Ross County and enjoyed spending time slowly walking thru the woods, especially enjoying the spring time in southern Ohio when he could hunt morel mushrooms. Robert also enjoyed collecting hickory nuts which his wife would use to make his favorite hickory nut cake. He loved his family and many friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family wants everyone to know that his death is due to a longtime addiction to cigarette smoking and strongly encourage everyone who is addicted to cigarettes to seek help and quit smoking today.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME. Military honors will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard at 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be no funeral services.
