ALAN LEROY FENDER
Alan Leroy Fender, age 81, a resident of Jamesport, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Alan was born the son of Marvin E. and Viola (Coriell) Fender on March 23, 1944, in Trenton, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Agriculture Engineering. He was united in marriage to Lynn Ann Degenhardt on May 15, 1993, in Jamesport, Missouri. She survives of the home.
Alan was a life-long farmer. He had many accomplishments and held positions on many boards. He was awarded the American Farmer degree in FFA. Alan was a member of the Lions Club and a founding member of the Jamesport Jaycees. He was also a long-time member of the Jamesport Volunteer Fire Department, which was a very important part of Alan's life. He held the position of Fire Chief for several years as well as Chairman of the Board of the Volunteer Fire Department. Alan was instrumental in getting the new fire station built. He was a Jamesport School Board member, as well as a board member for the Livingston County PWSD #4. Alan was a lifelong member of the Jamesport United Methodist Church, where he held several leadership positions throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; two sons, Vincent Fender (Shakira) of Trenton, Missouri, grandchildren, Stephen Fender (Courtney) and son, Preston, Alexis Fender (fiancé Steven) and sons, Ethan, Mathew and Landon, and Caleb Fender, Adam Fender and Joel Fender; Kevin Fender (Valorie) of Jamesport, Missouri, and grandchildren, Sharla Serrano (Stephen) and sons, Dominic and Giovanni, Rebecca Gilliland (Kaleb) and children Paisley and Graham, Amanda Fender (Corbin), Samantha Dixon (Zachary) and daughters, Brayleigh, Kaelynn and Kendall, Codi Fordyce (Coty) and children, Brynlee and Waylon, Ty Coats (Kaylea) and children, Sarah, John and Jack; one step-daughter, Jessica Zumstein of Kansas City, Missouri, grandchildren, Ainsley and Emmett; two brothers, Keith Fender (Mary Jane) of Rineyville, Kentucky and David Fender (Veta) of Ft. Myers, Florida; one sister, Janice Woody of Rome, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Matthew Fender, sister-in-law, Rita Fender; and brother-in-law, Ira Woody.
Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church, Jamesport, Missouri, on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Jamesport, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Jamesport Masonic Cemetery.
