BOB TIMMONS Bob Timmons, 90 of Davenport, lowa, passed away on September 10,2023, at the Kahl Home. Burial with military honors will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Assumption High School or St. Anthony's Care and Share Program. Robert "Bob" Roosevelt Timmons was born on April 25, 1933 to William and Mary Ellen Timmons of Wheeling, Missouri. Growing up on a small farm in north central Missouri, he was the eighth and youngest child, and was especially doted on by his four older sisters. Bob always spoke fondly of his faithful dog Laddie, and often relayed stories of childhood memories with his loyal friend. After Bob graduated high school at 16 years old, he proudly served his country in the Korean War with the US Army before coming home and attending and graduating from the University of Missouri. It was at this time of his life that he met and married the love of his life, Joan Phillips of Chula, Missouri. They were married in Chula on June 9, 1956, and in the years to come were blessed with 7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls. Bob started his career working for John Deere. During the span of his 27-year career with the company, he took on many different roles and moved with his family several times, until eventually retiring in 1986. Bob then started a new career with Edward Jones as a financial advisor in 1987, setting up the first office for Edward Jones in Davenport. His many gifts were highlighted in this career with his unique ability to serve and connect with his clients. Bob was a wonderful example of servant leadership, volunteering his time to his parish finance committee, Fr. Conroy's Vineyard of Hope, Marquette Academy and Assumption High School. He spent many hours visiting those in hospice and preparing meals for the Davenport homeless. Bob's greatest joy was his wife and family, and he exemplified a man of great faith and conviction. His strength of character was admirable, and his dedication to his family unparalleled. Countless hours were spent supporting his children, then grandchildren in their various sporting and musical events. Whether reading a story or retelling a childhood memory, Bob was a master storyteller and would captivate his audience with his animated and detailed descriptions. In retelling stories of old, he had a unique ability to share his childhood in a way that brought the memories to life. Every Christmas, as was his tradition, Bob would sit and don a Santa hat and read from the book "Twas the Night Before Christmas" with grandchildren lovingly gathered at his feet listening intently. His Irish heritage was very important to him and he celebrated St. Patrick's Day with the pride of an ol' Irishman. He loved poetry and music, especially old country music and sad Irish ballads. His grip was like iron, and he was well known for his intensely strong handshake. He was a strong and proud man of great integrity, tough and no nonsense but with an incredibly generous heart. He was a great leader, a man of his word, a friend to all and he was well known to end a goodbye with "You're as welcome as the flowers in May". He left an indelible mark on all those who met him, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Joan, married for 67 years and their seven children, Bob (Ann) Timmons, Kansas City, Kansas, Mike (Mary) Timmons, Des Moines, Iowa, Bill Timmons, Wheatland, Iowa, Beth (Dan) Laubenthal, Davenport, Iowa, Mary Nelle (Chris-deceased) Wessling, Denton, Texas, John (Dawn) Timmons, Davenport, Iowa, Dan (Kelly) Timmons, Davenport, Iowa; 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

We switched to Bob shortly after he set up the Davenport office and found him to be an honest and knowledgeable agent. We pray for his soul and blessings for the family.
