CAROLYN MABERRY Obituary

CAROLYN JOAN MABERRY Carolyn Joan Maberry, 86, of Dawn, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023. She was born on April 1, 1937, to Granville and Dorothy (Bunch) Sykes, at the family home in rural Dawn, Missouri. Carolyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was certainly a treasure, her beautiful smile and sweet demeanor will never be forgotten. Carolyn took great joy in sharing her family's accomplishments and loved bringing people together. Her life was dedicated to her family, friends, and community, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. She attended elementary school at Rea School and later attended Breckenridge High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen. After graduating from Tina-Avalon High School in 1955, she furthered her education at Central Missouri State University. On July 21, 1956, Carolyn married Billy J. Maberry in Kidder, Missouri, and they were later blessed with six children. Carolyn held various roles throughout her life, including a housewife, a proud NASDA Enumerator for the USDA/NASS in the Heartland Regional Field Office, and was a self-employed registered dog breeder. Her passion for her community led her to serve as a Tina-Avalon School Board Member for twenty plus years, and served as Director of Sub-District I on Carroll County Ambulance District Board of Directors from April 12, 1995 until October 14, 2021. Her dedication to her community extended to her annual work of placing flags on Veteran's graves for Memorial Day. Passionate about genealogy and her family history, she also worked tirelessly to locate and identify all unmarked graves in the Sykes Family Cemetery, and was striving to provide them with grave markers to honor their memory. Carolyn's zest for life was evident in her numerous interests. She led a fulfilling life, always keeping herself busy with various activities. She loved playing the accordion and the piano, quilting, sewing, participating in craft shows, having long conversations on the phone, and she absolutely loved driving. Carolyn had a knack for storytelling and always had an interesting tale to share. Her creativity shone through in her quilting. She lovingly crafted quilts for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her quilts are not only a testament to her skills but also a reflection of the love she had for her family. Faith was a significant part of Carolyn's life. She worshiped at Enon Baptist Church and Cowboy Church in Dawn, Missouri. Her faith guided her through life and inspired those around her. Carolyn is survived by her children, Stanley William Maberry (Tammy) of Dawn, Missouri, James Athel Maberry (Connie) of Dawn, Missouri, Elizabeth Jen Lowrey (Kris) of Pattonsburg, Missouri, and Melissa Ann Bealer (Rod) of Boonville, Missouri. She also leaves behind her grandchildren , Kimberly Maberry of Dawn, Missouri, Casey Maberry (Kara) of Braymer, Missouri, Aaron Maberry (Samantha) of Dawn, Missouri, Jennifer Maberry of Liberty, Missouri, Jonathan Lowrey (Rachael) of Kansas City, Missouri, Chelsey Trembly (Benjamin) of St. Joseph, Missouri, Travis Lowrey (Jennifer) of Springfield, Missouri, Dillon Lowrey (Alison) of Pattonsburg, Missouri, Laci Peterson-Rice (Chris) of Bolivar, Missouri, Cortney Bealer, Dalton Bealer, and Katheryn Bealer all of Boonville, Missouri.
