Bernadette M. "Boots" Lang, 79, of Chippewa Falls, and formerly of Cooks Valley died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1934, in the Town of Howard to Carl and Anna (Marko) Lang. She farmed her whole life in the Town of Howard. Boots enjoyed country music, taking trips to Branson and also Country Fest. She was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church in Cooks Valley. She loved puzzles, crosswords, word games, bird watching, and the color pink.
The family would like to thank the staff and her friends at Wissota Springs where she thoroughly enjoyed her visits. Also to the 6th floor staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, Chippewa Manor staff, 3rd floor staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, and the staff at Sacred Heart CCU.
Bernadette is survived by: her sisters, Vernetta (Alvin) Krall of Chippewa Falls, Leone Smith of Elk Mound; her brother, Ken Lang of Bloomer; and by nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Vernon, Carl Jr., and Danny; sister, Margaret Zwiefelhofer; in-laws, Dolan Zwiefelhofer, Leslie Smith, Avis Lang, Jeanne Lang; nieces and nephews, Michael Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Christine Smith; and great-great nephews, Caysen John Lang, Logan David Rubenzer, and Juan Carlos Michael Avila Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Father John Potaczek celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also take place at the church Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
