John Lang Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors - Hodgson Chapel on Feb. 22, 2026.
John W. Lang, 99, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026.

John was born August 4, 1926, in Ridgewood, Queens, New York, to the late Adam and Emma Lang. He was a graduate of Long Island University and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was an engineer with Grumman Aerospace in New York, which was the developer of the Gulfstream aircraft. In 1975, he transferred to Gulfstream in Savannah, where he continued his career until his retirement in 1993.

While vacationing in Bermuda, he met his future wife, Margo, who was visiting from Ohio. They were married one year later and shared 70 devoted years of marriage. They made their home on Wilmington Island, where they lived for 50 years. Mr. Lang also spent the past four years at Summer Breeze Senior Living.

John was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Savannah Country Club, Bacon Park Senior Blitz, Savannah USTA tennis leagues, and the Tybee Island American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Margo Lang; one daughter, Susan Anderson; one son, Dr. C.J. Lang; and four grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Cassidy, and Jackson.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. The Memorial Mass will immediately follow the visitation at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
